Prior Positions:
Senior Administrative Assistant to Vice President Claims Information
Technology (1999-2003)
Senior Administrative Assistant to VP Claims Marketing (1998-1999)
Senior Administrative Assistant to VP Claims Automation (1993-1998)
Administrative Assistant to Director of IT Services (1987-1993)
. Progression and Promotion - Initially hired as the Secretary to the
Director of Voice and Data Services. Served in that position for six
years. During that time, promoted to the next job grade. In 1993,
applied for a promotional opportunity in the Claim Department. Offered
the position during the interview with the hiring manager. From 1993-
2008, assumed various roles within the Department - IT, Marketing, and
Shared Services. Management eliminated the position I was supporting,
and my position was therefore phased out.
. Learning Curve / Technology - During tenure continually upgraded
knowledge of the latest technology - on a rapid and continuous 'learning
curve'. Self-taught PowerPoint.
. Highly Rated - Frequently told by co-workers and the Trainer from the
American Management Association in Chicago that I was "overqualified" for
the positions, continued to hold positions and produce in them.
Consistently received favorable annual performance ratings of "2" - which
in effect was the 'highest' rating as "1" was an extremely rare rating
within The Hartford.
. Stepping Up - Handling Increased Workload - Beginning in 2003, after
appointment as Senior Administrative Assistant to the VP of Shared
Services, the department had promoted an AVP to the position of VP. I
stepped into the dual role, supporting both executives, and saving the
company $50,000 salary plus benefits.
. Event Planning - During tenure, assumed complete responsibility for
planning internal and external meetings. Smoothly took over the function
- selecting venue, negotiating site, and handling all details. Delivered
outstanding events within budget.
