From: July 2012-July 2014.
Job Profile:
> Stating from basic concept, utilizing knowledge of design, modeling of
parts, plotting final drawings and manufacturing of final product.
Major Projects:
1) Design and fabrication of pressure vessel of diameter 1500 mm, 750mm and
500mm as per ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code for Institute of
Plasma Research, Gandhinagar
> Selection of proper diameter and length of vessel as per customer
requirement.
> Vessels are designed as per ASME Section VIII Div-1.
> Selection of shape of vessel, Material of vessel satisfying all
requirement of customer.
> Vessels are designed to have minimum heat losses.
> Supports for inside mountings are designed so that conduction
losses will be minimum.
> Design of vessel for vacuum level 10-7 mbar and leak rate of order
10-8 mbar l/s.
> Design opening and closing mechanism for pressure vessel dished
end opening.
> Selection of proper linear guide for sliding motion of dished end
of vessel.
> Design of saddle support for vessel.
> Design of lifting lug for vessel.
2) Design and fabrication of 4K LHe Cryostat using ASME section VIII Div 1,
(U-Stamp Project) BARC Mumbai.
> Selection of proper material for vessel.
> Design of vessel for minimum heat load so that there will be
minimum evaporation of liquid Helium.
> Lhe cryostat is designed as per ASME section VIII Div I.
> Design of inner Helium vessel to minimize heat loads.
> Determination of proper thickness and size of vessel as per
customer requirement.
> Deciding proper thickness and length of nozzle attached to vessel
also reinforcement calculations for nozzles.
> Selection safety devices such Burst disc, pressure relief valve.
> Proper arrangement of feed through, current leads.
> Qualification of WPS for impact application, PQR, WPQ.
> Proper mounting of MLI over Helium vessel so that heat loads due
to radiation will be minimized.
3) Design and Fabrication of Dimpled Cryopanels radiation shields to
minimize the evaporation losses of Helium using ASME section VIII Div 1
Appendix 17 (U-Stamp project), Institute of plasma research,
Gandhinagar.
> Dimpled panels are special type of nonconventional pressure
vessel.
> Design is done by using ASME section VIII Div I, Appendix 17.
> Welding control is by using ASME section VIII Div I, Appendix 17
and using ASME section IX.
> Plates are sandwiched using TIG welding without filler.
> Sandwiched plates are hydroformed to required pillow height.
> Qualification of WPS,PQR, WPQ and is done using ASME Section IX.
> Selection and procurement of filler wire are done as per SFA 5.9.
> These cryopanels are coated with activated carbon and which will
be finally used in Cryopump.
4) Design and Fabrication of Cryo-isolation valve, Institute of plasma
research, Gandhinagar.
> Design of cryo isolation valve for regeneration of activated
carbon coated cryopanels used in cryo-pumps.
> Design of sealing mechanism and selection of sealing material
which will sustain LN2 temperature.
> Design and manufacturing of pneumatic actuator for opening and
closing operation of valve.
> Selection of seal which will perform sealing at 80 K.
> Extensive use of geometric dimensioning and tolerance as per ASME
Y14.5.
> Proper uses of fits.
> Design of vacuum chamber for valve assembly for pressure 10-6 mbar
and Leak rate of order 10-8 mbar l/s.
5) Fabrication of Plasma Facing Component, Institute of plasma research,
Gandhinagar.
> Plasma facing component consists of Special grade copper Cu-Cr-Zr
and Cu-Zr were to brazed to SS316L tube. Main challenge was to
braze SS316L bend tube(in two radius) to conical copper grooved
plate.
> Selection of proper brazing process(Vacuum brazing).
> Selection of proper brazing filler material so that it will melt
at exactly eutectic temperature.
> Planning of proper brazing cycle parameters using phase diagram of
brazing filler material i.e Ag-Cu phase diagram.
> Joint should pass the pull out test and shear test criteria.
> SS316L tube should not be leak during brazing and bending.
6) Fabrication of Electron Beam Gun, BARC Mumbai
> Electron Bean gun is to be manufacture to produce electron beam
and which in turn is to be used for melting of Tantalum alloy in
melting furnace.
> Fabrication was done as per design provided by BARC.
> Special grades of materials were used such as Inconel-625 for high
temperature strength.
> Different fixtures were manufactures for maintaining heights and
orientation of components.
> Extensive use of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
> Proper uses of fits.
> Guiding of electron beam and mounting of solid cathode was very
critical task.
7) Support structure design for magnet, Institute of Plasma Research,
Gandhinagar.
> Design of mounting frame for pentagonal shaped magnet.
> Selection of proper cross section of pentagonal frame and supports
to avoid buckling and bending caused due to weight of magnet.
> Assure the proper rigidity of frame providing proper arrangement
of members of frame.
8) Support structure design for gyrotron, Institute of plasma research,
Gandhinagar.
> Design and fabrication of support structure for gyrotron tube
> Selection of proper insulating material for proper isolation of
different current circuits.
> Fabrication of leak tight tank (Leak rate of order 10-8 mbar l/s)
9) Design, fabrication and testing of vacuum chamber for studying the
pumping behavior of liquid Helium panel coated with activated charcoal
which will going to be part of cryopump, Institute of plasma research,
Gandhinagar.
> Main achievement in this project was 4K temperature and 10-9 mbar
pressure in vacuum vessel first time in our organization.
10) Design and fabrication of semi-automatic welding machine, I-Design
Engineering Solutions Ltd, Pune
11) Faced ASME audit as a Quality Control Manager and our organisation
successfully recertified for ASME certification mark for 'U'
designator.
