OBJECTIVE
To use my abundant skills and knowledge of engineering and project management. To
oversee and direct in all areas of a project, leading large cross-functional teams.
EXPERIENCE
1/2013 – Present
Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte, NC
R&D Laboratory consultant
Laser interferometers for experiments. LabView programming, data acquisition and
hardware interface. Complete project management including planning, budgeting and
scheduling for associated experiments.
7/2008 – Present
Jacobsen/Textron, Charlotte, NC
Test Engineer III / Project Lead
Responsibilities encompass all areas of engineering/mentoring/management. Fill in as
Test manager when needed. Project planning, project management, project scheduling,
product research and development. Spent time mentoring / leading engineers and
technicians. Creation and assembly of reports, DVP&R, DFMEA, RCFA creation.
Expertise in testing of gasoline, diesel, hybrid (AC/DC), AC and DC motors and battery
(charge/discharge) power-plants, including chassis roll dyno. Testing includes system
(entire vehicle) to component (hoses, valves, heat exchangers, actuators, HVAC systems)
to meet ISO, ANSI, EN standards and certification. Design / build test fixtures using
electrical/electronics, mechanical fixturing, servo-hydraulics (MTS for structural fatigue
testing) pneumatic systems and servo actuators based on self-created prints/drawings.
Stress analysis of welds. Strength, durability, endurance, environmental, impact, NVH
(sound and vibration) and various other types. LabView, PLC/HMI and Somat EDaq for
control and data acquisition. Several R&D projects including 1 patent.
10/2006 – 5/2008
ABB, Muskegon, MI
E&I Supervisor / Engineering Manager / Reliability
Management of over 40 mechanical and electrical craftsmen both day and off shift
directing E&I personal, planning all daily PM and work order activity as well as all
shutdown work. Prioritized all emergent and emergency work orders.. Site engineering
manager. On-site safety manager / OSHA contact, starting near-miss program, incident
reporting, working on JSA, JHA and JSO programs. Responsible for RCFA leadership
and reporting, troubleshooting various instrumentation and electrical problems through
inspection specifications and failure criteria. Started predictive maintenance and
lubrication programs. Lean, six sigma and 5S initiatives.
3/1998 – 10/2006 ABB, Auburn Hills, MI
Sr. Test Engineer/Team Leader
Advising and working with engineering team on specifications, methods and
applications. Specializing in Research and Development / product development.
Expertise in engine assembly and test, gasoline and diesel- cold/hot-test, systems. Test
system data collection using time based or angle based (encoder, linear or incremental)
data collection. I have worked on axle assembly lines in the gaging area (application and
integration of lasers, vision, linear and incremental encoders, strain/load/torque cells,
accelerometers, etc…) to fuel/oil pump test stands. My knowledge and I were often taken
into the sales arena to promote assembly and test systems around the world (China,
Europe, Mexico, etc.). I worked with a project from R&D/Concept/Product definition,
product mapping, specification and design through to debug and customer
(engineer/operator) training. Including waveform analysis/data acquisition and
composing training manuals for the customer. Some customers include Cummins,
Caterpillar, Detroit Diesel, Mac, Kubota, GM, Ford, Chrysler, FAW and Beijing Jeep.
10/1993 - 3/1998 - DT Industries/Assembly & Test Technologies Livonia, MI
Sr. Test Engineer/Sr. Project Engineer
Responsible for developing testing procedures and software for time/angle based test
systems. Involved in all areas of test engineering and some project management including
concept, electrical, mechanical, application, debug, waveform analysis and
engineer/operator training. Responsible for all aspects of several small projects (Less than
$500K).
