ACADEMIC PROJECTS

● Range Dependent Beamforming for Phased-MIMO Radar

Environment : Digital Signal Processing / MATLAB

Work stream : M.E final year - university project work

Project Description: This project presents a Phased-multiple-input and multiple-output

(MIMO) radar is a flexible technique which enjoys the advantages of MIMO radar without

sacrificing the main advantage of phased-array radar. We propose new phased-MIMO radar with

range-dependent beamforming. The essence of the proposed technique is to divide the frequency

diverse array transmit array into multiple subarrays, each subarray coherently transmits a distinct

waveform with a small frequency increment across the array elements.

The beamforming performance as compared to phased-MIMO radar is examined by analyzing the

transmit–receive beam patterns and the output signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio. The project is

to simulate “beamforming” for the proposed technique.

● Energy Efficient Multi-Object Tracking in Sensor Network (Team Size: 3)

Environment : Wireless Sensor Network

Work stream : B.Tech final semester - university project work

Project Description : The aim of this project is to track objects in an energy efficient way.

Sensors were put into sleep mode for energy saving when no object is found. The micro controller

will have an IR sensor attached to it. When this IR sensor detects the arrival of an object, the

controller sends information to the motion sensors and the camera units and hence wakes them up.

This can be applied in military border surveillance and traffic surveillance.

● Pattern Classification using LVQ Method

Application : Pattern classification

Work stream : Mini project

Project Description : Four patterns of ECG signals were collected with about 200 samples in each

pattern. Neural Networks were trained in LVQ (Learning Vector Quantization) Method with 15

samples in each pattern. The trained neural network classified the input ECG signal (samples other

than those used for training) to the correct pattern. Matlab’s neural network tools were used.
