Educational Qualifications:

MBBS (1993-1998) from T.D. Medical College, Alappuzha one of the five

Government medical colleges in Kerala. After training in preclinical

subjects-anatomy, physiology, biochemistry pharmacology, pathology,

microbiology and clinical subjects- general medicine, general surgery OBG,

pediatrics, orthopedics.ENT &ophthalmology passed the final examination

with second class.

CRRI(Compulsory rotatory residential internship)-1998-1999 in TD Medical

Hospital, Alappuzha & Community health center Ambalappuzha.-2 months each

in general medicine, general surgery,OBG & 3months in community medicine,1

month in pediatrics, 10 days each in orthopedics, ophthalmology, ENT,

cardiology, neurology& dermatology.

MD-Anaesthesiology(2001-2004) from Government medical college, Calicut .one

of the premier institutions in Kerala & the biggest hospital in north

Kerala.With a 1000 bedded main hospital & 500 bedded Institute of maternal

& child health, the hospital had surgical specialties -general

surgery,orthopedics,ENT, urology,plastic surgery,CVT

surgery,neurosurgery,OBG,pediatric surgery.I appeared for Diploma in

anaesthesiology(DA) examination 2 years into my 3 year training & passed

the examination.and passed the final examination after completion of

training.

Details of experience:

I have worked as clinical Assistaant Profesor in Anaesthesiology in Amrita

Institute of Medical Sciences(AIMS),Kochi from 1 Sept 2004-20 January

2005.AIMS is an 800 bedded multispeciality tertiary care hospital, the

biggest private sector hospital in Kerala.

During my tenure I have gained experience in providing anaesthesia for

general surgery, orthopaedic,GI & laparoscopic surgeries, pediatric

surgery,urology,plastic,head& neck surgery.

From 27 January 2005 to 26 January 2007 I have worked in Paalana Institute

of Medical sciences, Palakkad,Kerala as Anaesthesiologist. Paalana

Institute of Medical sciences was established in 2003 to cater to the

population of Palakkad district in Kerala.It quickly established itself as

the biggest & busiest hospital in the region.During my tenure I could gain

experience in providing anaesthetic care for orthopedic, OBG, general

surgery, maxillofacial, laparoscopic,neurosurgical and ENT procedures. I

have also been associated in managing the medical & surgical ICUs

especially in vascular access & ventilatory care.

From February 1,2007 to march 9,2010- I have worked as consultant

Anaesthesiologist in Ernakulam Medical Centre (EMC).EMC is a

multispeciality hospital in Cochin,Kerala with a busy trama centre &

advanced neonatal care unit.During my tenure I have providsed anaesthetic

services for orthopaedic (spine,trauma,joint replacement) procedures,pediatric (also neonatal), general surgery& laparoscopic surgeries, OBG(CS,laparoscopies labour analgesia),maxillofacial,urology, thoracic

surgery(VATS)& neurosurgical procedures. involvement in ICU management was

also part of my work profile.

At present March 10,2010 to June 30 2013, I have worked as consultant

Anaesthesiologist in Indo American hospital,Chemmanakari,

Vaikkom,Kerala.The hospital, founded by an american neurosurgeon is a

leading neurosurgical centre in Kerala .About 50-70 neurosurgical

cases(tumors, vascular, neuroendoscopies, stereotactic surgeries, spine

surgeries, endovascular procedures)are performed every month. In addition

to providing anaesthesia for these procedures, I am also involved in the

management of postoperative &stroke ICUs.

From August 15,2013 till date I have been working as specialist

anaesthesiologist In Al Raffa Hospital(Aster),Muscat, Oman. With around 300

major surgeries every month, Al Raffa hospital is one of the busiest

private sector hospitals in Oman. The surgical specialities include

General& laparoscopic surgery, OBG, Urology, Orthopedics, ENT& Plastic

surgery.

Clnical skills:

Airway skills: I am familiar with the airway management techniques like

endotracheal intubation, LMA, nasal intubation, have performed a few cases

of retrograde intubations and have used the i-gel on a few patients. I have

also done single lung ventilation for VATS cases.

Fiberoptic laryngosopy: I have used the flexible fiberoptic laryngoscope

mainly in the ICU setting for tracheobronchial toilette and have intubated

a few patients with the FFB in the OR even though I am not an expert in

fiberoptic intubation.

I have performed many percutaneous dilatational

tracheostomies over the past five years, familiar only with the Griggs

technique.

Regional anaesthesia: I am familiar with the technique of spinal & epidural

anesthesia(lumbar & thoracic).also familiar with upper limb blocks.

I have also performed epidural labour

analgesia on a few (around 25) patients.

Other

Thesis: Comparison between caudal epidural anaesthesia & ilioinguinal block

in pediatric herniotomy patients -submitted to Calicut university in May

2004.

Prizes: First prize in intercollege Quiz competition held in Sree Chitra

Institute of Medical Sciences & Technology in February 2004.

Second prize in Postgraduate Quiz competition held along with Kerala

state Anaesthesia conference at Kannur in October 2002.

Presentations: On" Fiber optic bronchoscopy" at monthly meeting of Cochin

branch of Indian Society of Anesthesiology in March 2009.

On Anaesthesia for VATS at at monthly meeting of

Cochin branch of Indian Society of anesthesiology in September 2009.

I am an instructor at the ITLS(Immediate Trauma Life

Support)course being held twice every year at Ernakulam Medical Centre,

Cochin.
