Dear Hiring Committee,
Thank you for taking the time to read and evaluate my resume for the position of Registered
Dietitian. I finished my Dietetic Internship at UCSF in July 2014 and I earned my RD credential on
September 2014. During my time as a dietetic intern, I have learned a great deal about the dedication
and hard work it takes to succeed in a prestigious institution like UCSF and I would like the chance to
continue this work as a dietitian. I am confident that the clinical nutrition knowledge I have gathered
over the course of my 52-week internship as well as my extensive academic background in biology and
nutrition will make me an excellent candidate for this position.
As a dietetic intern at UCSF I have interacted with a diverse patient population in the inpatient,
outpatient, and community settings. I experienced working in multiple, intensive rotations including
cardiovascular, general medicine, GI, colorectal, gynecology, obstetrics, ICN, ICU, oncology, general
pediatrics, and BMT. I was also given the opportunity to build upon my previous nutrition counseling
experience to effectively relay vital and useful nutrition information to patients at the Cancer Center,
Diabetes Teaching Center, Dialysis clinic, CF clinic, and GI clinic. This supervised practice has given
me the opportunity to establish and apply evidenced based medical nutrition therapy on a variety of
pediatric and adult patients. Through constant and constructive feedback from supervising dietitians at
UCSF, I have cultivated strong communication skills with the multidisciplinary team and patients as
well as gaining the ability to properly document patient care notes while following HIPPA guidelines.
It is my hope to continue learning and expanding my nutrition care knowledge as a dietitian
within a multidisciplinary team. I would highly appreciate an interview to further detail my skills and
qualifications for this position at length and to answer any questions you may have regarding my
application. Thank you for your consideration and I hope to speak to you soon regarding the position
available.
Sincerely,
Brian Kang
