PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
2010-2014 Director, Global Network Engineering, Tech Data Corporation
Overall global responsibility for all LAN, WAN, Internet, Telecom, Video Conferencing, and Contact Center services
supporting over 9,000 employees at 55 sites. Responsible for 3 managers and 21 employees based across Europe and in
the corporate offices in Clearwater, FL. Oversaw vendor management and contract negotiations across the Americas and
Europe totaling over $11M per year. Responsible for building good relationships with key bu siness stakeholders globally
to foster a collaborative environment between IT and the business.
Led the design and implementation of large-scale projects including the deployment of Cisco Voice over IP and
UCCE in 5 European countries, WAN service migration of 38 sites, migration of the contact center from a DCS
back-end to an SAP back-end, Internet service provider migration across the US, DMZ redesign, Data Center
network optimization, Global Cisco Video Conference and WebEx implementation, and network lifecycle
projects.
Played a key role in the business alignment and project prioritization on a quarterly basis to ensure IT was
delivering solutions which provided the maximum benefit and met business requirements.
Worked with business leadership, IT leadership, and service providers to ensure proper project scoping,
requirements, alignment, prioritization, and planning. Ultimately responsible for ensuring network and telecom
requirements were identified, planned for, and addressed appropriately in all IT p rojects globally.
Responsible for vendor management and contract negotiation for all WAN, Internet, Mobile, and local telecom
contracts across the Americas and Europe totaling over $11M per year .
Recruited and built a very successful, talented, and dedicated global team of engineers and managers
supporting many Cisco product sets including LAN/WAN, Security, Video, IP Telephony (IPT) and Contact Center
(UCCE), and Collaboration.
Successfully negotiated a $3.6M global MPLS contract, migrated 38 sites across 16 countries, engineered full
redundancy, and added Riverbed WAN optimization to all sites. This resulted in a 50% increase in capacity, 10%
more sites connected, additional levels of redundancy, and a 15% overall cost reduction.
Partnered with Cisco to develop an innovative multi-year lifecycle strategy for the entire global infrastructure,
resulting in better planning and a clear direction for the team to improve forecasting, reduce capital investment
and operational costs, and simplify the architecture.
Developed a strategy to migrate over 1,200 virtual servers from an HP hardware platform to a Cisco UCS
platform.
Ensured system reliability for over 1,000 pieces of telephony, network, video conference, and security
infrastructure worth over $15 million. Consistently exceeded 99.5% system availability SLA. Also responsible for
ensuring vendor provided services met contracted SLAs.
Developed a global Cisco SmartNet strategy which provided clear guidance on the appropriate use of
maintenance support, how to architect for efficiencies, and maintenance standardization globally . This resulted
in an immediate savings of over $100k and a forecasted reduction of over $200k per year .
2007-2010 Top Secret Network Manager, White House Communications Agency, US Army
Established a manning and support plan necessary to effectively administer a highly classified Special Access Program
network in support of the White House Military Office. Managed 17 government and civilian personnel including systems,
network, and database administrators, web and application developers, and information security specialists .
Interviewed, hired, and mentored 13 contractor and 4 government IT professionals.

Created a comprehensive six year budget plan of over $6 million per year addressing personnel and contracts,
systems lifecycle, new network and system installations, and maintenance and support services.
Supervised the design and implementation of large-scale projects including the deployment of Cisco Voice over
IP, Cisco Intrusion Detection Systems, Knowledge Management solutions, and SharePoint Services.
Led the negotiation and award of a multi-year contract responsible for re-building the Top Secret Network.
Successfully brought the network into compliance with Joint Air Force Army Navy (JAFAN) 6/3 Protection Level 3
requirements, some of the most strict security requirements in the world .
Responsible for the evaluation and selection of all Information System solutions and technologies for the Top
Secret network for the White House Military Office.
Direct responsibility for the accountability and maintenance of over 600 pieces of communications and security
equipment worth over $5 million.
2005-2007 Presidential Response Officer / Battle Captain, White House Communications Agency, US Army
Directed the White House Communications Agency Operations Center in tracking the status of all personnel, equipment,
and networks in support of the President, Vice President, the First Lady, White House Staff, and the Secret Service
worldwide.
Provided communications and information security guidance and support to multiple teams of up to 70
personnel around the world to ensure that they were safe and that secure communication was available for the
President, Vice-President, the First Lady, and their Staffs at all times.
Responsible for coordinating troubleshooting efforts across the Agency for satellite, UHF and VHF radio, Cisco
network, Cisco telephony, and video systems in support of the White House.
2004-2005 Presidential Communications Officer, White House Communications Agency, US Army
Managed a team of up to 45 personnel in establishing mobile secure communications for the President of the United
States in many foreign and domestic locations.
Responsible for the planning and implementation of secur e and non-secure satellite, radio, LAN/WAN, video, and
voice systems in support of the deployed personnel.
Advised Senior White House Staff of all communications support and issues related to the President ’s visit to the
location.
2000-2004 Battalion Network Technician, Fort Campbell, KY, US Army
Designed and managed all tactical secure and non-secure voice and data communications for the 101 st Airborne Division
using Cisco network and telephony solutions over UHF and satellite systems.
Designed and implemented a $12 million satellite communications system providing support to units on the
move regardless of their location, revolutionizing the command and control capabilities of the division.
