Project Manager - Highwall Miner Operations - Project Manager for the
first Highwall Mining Machine used in Colombian operations.
Assisted Senior Management in the specifications required for the machine
and purchase of the highwall mining machine and spare parts. Supervise
the erection of the machine and the day to day operations. Encountered
methane during initial mining and advised the proper solutions from
previous methane mining experience. Responsible for the hiring of
Expatriates to assist in the training of Colombian workforce.
CBB Mining Consulting, Inc., Charleston, WV. September 2012 to February
2013
Senior Engineer Associate - Consultant under Norwest Corporation for
an oil shale project in South East Utah.
Responsible for the management of onsite testing procedures and
reporting prior to capsule construction and
mining. Member of Norwest Constructability Team which includes testing
during the Spring of 2013 and scale
capsule construction during 2013. Responsibilities also include
project management, and mine planning prior to
full scale project start up.
JB Energy, LLC., (Hanover Resources, LLC), Clarksburg, WV. August 2007 to
August 2012
COO/Mining Company co-owner-49% owner of a surface and highwall mining
company producing approximately 400K tons per year. Manage operations of
a medium-sized surface mining operation in north-central West Virginia.
Negotiate contracts with property owners and subcontractors, conduct new
property development and economic valuations, coordinate approval of mine
plans and permits, manage costs, and serve as interface with federal and
state regulatory agencies.
. Initiated company's highwall mining operation in a previously unproven
area in north-central West Virginia, resulting in increasing company
revenue from $5.5M in 2008 to $7.7M in 2009 and $11.3M in 2010 with
$2.8M in annual profit.
. Within 6 months as COO, decreases annual operating expenses by
$400,000 by converting rental surface mining equipment to a purchase
and by another $1.2M in 2010 by eliminating subcontractor and
purchasing a Superior Highwall Miner.

Vice President-Managed three medium-to-large-scale multi-seam mountaintop
surface mining operations producing 2.9M tons annually. Hired, managed,
and evaluated performance of up to 180 employees. Managed surface
facilities at an underground and highwall mining complex with an on-site
preparation plant. Additional responsibilities included safety
management, budget planning and administration, equipment
selection/justification,
coal quality control and blending, regulatory compliance, cost control,
permit evaluation and review, economic evaluations, mine plan
approval, new property development evaluations, and labor relations.
