Managing Editor/Founder

Duties, Accomplishments and Related Skills:

As the owner and Managing Editor, I have been able to reach

out to variety of readers. Though the website provides news

to Africans about Africa primarily but I developed the story

or content ideas, considering reader or audience appeal in a

way that the content of the website can be viewed and read

in about eight different languages. As a result of this, the

website was selected as a runner up for New Media Award by

Highway Africa in South Africa for year 2011.

I prepared, rewrote and edited copy to improve readability,

and supervised others who do this work. I verified facts,

dates, and statistics, using standard reference sources

using Computer Assisted Reporting. I was also responsible

for reading copy or proof to detect and correct errors in

spelling, punctuation, and syntax.

I planned the contents of publications according to the

publication's style, editorial policy, and publishing

requirements; this was evident in the successful publication

of the first edition of the hard copy published in 2007.

I allocated print space for story text, photos, and

illustrations according to space parameters and copy

significance, using knowledge of layout principles by

overseeing publication production, including artwork,

layout, computer typesetting, and printing, ensuring

adherence to deadlines and budget requirements.

Accomplishments

. Won the Nigerian Media Merit Award as Defense Reporter of

the Year 2000 Based on a story, titled "Soldiers Grumble"

exposed the corrupt practices of the Chief of Defense Staff,

Admiral Ibrahim Ogohi and caused him to refund the transfer

allowance of soldiers he had earlier stolen.

. Another article I wrote on Ministry of Education in 2001

led to the removal of the Minister of Education, Prof Tunde

Adeniran for the loss of over 300 Billion Naira meant for

Universal Basic Education Program.

. Won the Highway Africa Runner-Up Award for New Media

Technology 2011- The award in recognition of my effort to

disseminate information about Africa to Africans and

non-Africans in 8 different languages through my website:
