Title: Systems Project Manager 1997 – 2003

As the Systems Project Manager I was part of the IT Production Support Organization providing daily hardware/software support,

project support, internal developer support and end-user problem resolution.

I was one of the hiring managers for the IT production Support Organization and as such participated in all hiring interviews.

Review staff training requirements and approved all training. Organized and scheduled internal SAP training sessions.

Selected for global technical insight to serve as key member of corporate-wide Information Technology Change Board that controls

and approves all hardware and software changes throughout company. I work with project managers, deployment and support

functions to plan, schedule and coordinate software/hardware changes in a worldwide production environment.

I was the co-developer and Chair of the SAP Change Review Board (CRB). The CRB coordinates and approves all changes to the SAP

Production Instance. It assures that all ‘due diligence’ is completed. A typical CRB meeting would include the interested users,

functional and technical leads from each SAP functional area (ex. Finance, Sales & Distribution, etc). The change would then be

reviewed for its impact to each functional area, current scheduled production and/or current development activity, performance,

technical completeness, testing and user acceptance. As the Chair of the board, I had the final approval or disapproval authority. I

maintained and published release schedules and related deliverables. I was the developer of the Change Review Form as well as co-

developer of the Lotus Notes Change review system that provides collaboration, work-flow, approvals and change/project

documentation for SAP. This system was Sarbanes-Oxley compliant.

Provide management and hands-on technical support for worldwide implementation of SAP, including Data Dictionary, ABAP

programming, Transport, Basis, QA, change control, conversion planning and execution. Responsible for managing overall health

and growth of the SAP system and its interfaces to other systems, with duties that include monitoring daily operations, review and

resolution of trouble tickets coordinating cross functional development teams and managing SAP modifications, conversions and

upgrades.

development of Java program(s) that ran as system deamons for system interfaces; hands-on for the evaluation, configuration and

installation of SAP BC Connector (WebMethods); hands-on for the development of Mercury Interactive test scripts; hands-on using

Macromedia Dreamweaver.

Daily review and resolution of end-user trouble tickets. Meeting with end-users and internal IT organizations to resolve trouble

ticket issues. Worked with the end-user and internal IT organizations to change unresolved trouble tickets into Production Change

Technical Manager for eight (8) contract ABAP programmers and a consulting company for the development of interfaces between

SAP Sales and Distribution and Material Management and i2’s Demand Fulfillment system. Working from detailed technical

specifications, we would make the appropriate SAP ABAP modifications. I approved all specifications, participated in program

development, testing and troubleshooting.

Project manager for three (3) contract functional analysts, four (4) ABAP programmers, key end-users and the departmental ‘stake-

holder’ for the conversion of Applied Materials spare parts fabrication, purchasing and sales order processing from Oracle to SAP.

Developer of a web application using Macromedia Dreamweaver for the purpose of publishing technical standards. I also

maintained the NT server this application ran on.

Manager and participate in 4 (four) disaster recovery exercises using SunGard facilities. I provided SAP management; planning,

staffing and test plan development for these exercises. All SAP disaster recovery exercises were successful.

Evaluation of Mercury Interactive Software's monitoring software that was eventually used to monitor servers, software and

interfaces between SAP and i2’s Demand Fulfillment system.

Managed the integration of Vastera’s export management EMS-2000 Global Passport software to SAP as well as version upgrade.

Provided daily monitoring of the EMS-2000 software as well as the interface between SAP and EMS-2000. Reviewed and approved

all end-user requests for system modifications.

Manager and individual contributor for the development of a Java File Integration Engine (JFIE). The Java File Integration Engine

moved data files to and from (inbound/outbound) the SAP Server(s). It also provided data validation, and email notification. The

engine was a developed using the Java Io, Lang and Util packages. This software ran as a Unix Daemon. It was developed using

Sun’s Forte for Java (NetBeans) IDE.

Manager for the migration of SAP and its interfaces from the Santa Clara Data Center to the newly build Austin Texas Datacenter.

This was a company wide, $600 million dollar effort effecting in excess of 60 computer applications and over 6,000 users. My

responsibilities included planning, scheduling, testing and certification of SAP and its interfaces upon completion of the migration.

Evaluation of SAP BC Connector (WebMethods) for Java that was later used to interface to an external web-based purchasing system

that was used to order office supplies. I did the initial installation and maintained the BC Connector server. I participated in the

evaluation process and approved the use of this product. I was the project manager from the production Support Organization

during the development of this interface to the external web based purchasing system.

Extended Java expertise by conducting comprehensive evaluation of SAP BC Connector (WebMethods) for Java, later successfully

integrated with external web-based purchasing system for ordering office supplies.

Member of the technical team that evaluated WebMethods Rosetta Net for supplier integration.

Development of numerous interfaces between SAP and external systems such as interfaces between SAP and Oracle using db-link

and triggers to populate user specific tables as well as specific applications creating flat-files that were moved between systems using

UNIX deamon(s). Mercator was also used to map data and upload/download EDI data.

Working with the SAP Batch Scheduler, review and correct any canceled or excessively long running jobs. This activity could include

an ABAP program modification (for excessively long running jobs), such as reducing the amount of memory used by using

WHERE/HAVING CLAUSES, minimize the data transferred to the program, restrict the number of columns fetched, avoiding repeated

I/O access, avoid nested IF statements, use SAP Dictionary VIEWS where appropriate, use AGGREGATE FUNCTIONS were appropriate,

creating database secondary indexes, table buffering or by simply rescheduling to resolve any batch scheduling and server load

conflicts.

Daily review of the activity logs of an internally developed program (UNIX) that was used to interface to dissimilar systems.

Corrections could include rescheduling jobs, resolving system interface issues or working with the end-user to recreate the data. I

also approved any interfaces and the interface method used such as db-links and BC Connectors.

Daily review of SAP system Short Dumps. This activity would involve identifying the cause of the Short Dump and taking corrective

action. Typical corrective action could include identification of any OSS Notes that may correct the problem, SAP system

configuration changes or hardware changes. If an OSS Note requires an ABAP program change, I would make that change, work with

the end-user and functional group to test this change and transport it thru the SAP Pipeline Instances of Sandbox, Development, Q/A

and Production. This activity may also include ith the SAP Basis Group to make any SAP instance/buffer changes, as well as the

Database and Unix Administrators.

Created and controlled all SAP Data Dictionary entries for the purpose of maintaining system consistency across all SAP configuration

changes. Worked as part of each development team(s) to maintain consistency and to prevent conflicts for SAP Data Dictionary

entries.

Hands-on execution and management of all SAP Transports between sandbox, development, Q/A and Production SAP Instances.

Resolved SAP transport conflicts and timing with the development teams. Worked with the development teams to test the

successful transports of changes to the SAP production instance as well as execution of any rollback activity, if needed

Installed, managed and programmed the first EDI system at Applied Materials using IBM’s packaged EDI solution.

Expatiate to Horsham England for the purpose of developing and enhancing reporting from European operations to corporate

headquarters in Santa Clara California.

As part of a conversion team, we converted the Spares Inventory Control System to the CDIS System. This was a 6-month conversion

effort. The Applied Materials Silver Award was presented to us for this conversion effort. Extensive data mapping for data

conversion to new system.

While a consultant to Applied Materials, I also had other clients such as Ungerman-Bass, Sun, Bank of America, ASK, etc. I provided

programming and project management for financial, manufacturing, warehousing and material management systems.
