I briefly took leave from the workforce to care for my bed-bound mother in New Orleans, Louisiana, to serve as
her live-in primary caregiver, cooking meals, maintaining her living space, managing and administering her
medications, working with hospice nurses and managing structured nightly care until her passing in May 2010.
This experience elevated my ability to make quick, smart decisions. Sometimes there is no time to
hesitate but to act. Now that’s working under pressure.
