Rotated on a variety of inpatient units including admissions units,
forensic unit, long-term unit, and long-term aggressive male unit. Provided
individual therapy for diverse group of adult clients, most of whom had
chronic mental illnesses. Diagnoses included Substance Abuse/Dependence,
Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder, Pedophilia,
Mental Retardation, and Antisocial Personality Disorder. Wrote over 100
"Narrative Summaries" consisting of interviews with clients, chart review,
case conceptualization, diagnostic impressions, and treatment
recommendations. Conducted psychological assessments and wrote reports.
Referral questions included determining diagnosis, treatment
recommendations, malingering, competency to stand trial, and mental state
at time of offense. Assessment measures utilized included the PAI,
Rorschach-Comprehensive System, TAT, WAIS-IV, WASI-II, SIRS, TOMM, WMS-IV,
Cognistat,
CAST-MR, BDI-II, BHS, and MMSE. Ran weekly group on mindfulness. Presented
cases in weekly psychology seminar. Supervised first year Widener doctoral
student. Participated in daily interdisciplinary treatment team meetings.

Conducted psychological assessments and wrote reports for diverse group of
adult clients on a short-term inpatient mental health unit. Referral
questions included diagnostic clarification, malingering, suicide risk, and
IQ estimate. Assessment measures utilized included the PAI, Rorschach-
Comprehensive System, M-Fast, SPS, PDI-IV, and WASI. Co-led an hourly
symptom management group for higher functioning patients on the unit.

Provided weekly individual therapy for inmates diagnosed with a mental
illness, many of whom had co-occurring substance abuse/dependence. Led a
weekly 1-hour group for inmates coping with grief and loss. Conducted
psychological assessments to inform treatment recommendations for mentally
ill inmates. Conducted evaluations for potential reduced status (e.g.,
medium security to minimum security) of both mentally ill and non-mentally
ill inmates. Conducted sexually violent predator evaluations. Assessment
measures utilized included the PAI, Rorschach-Comprehensive System, Static-
99, and MnSOST. Participated in weekly interdisciplinary treatment team
meetings. Checked in on mentally ill inmates who were housed in detention
ward.

Provided weekly, one-hour individual and family therapy for low-SES clients
at an outpatient clinic. Wrote progress notes for each session and
collaborated with patients in developing treatment plans. Client diagnoses
included ADHD, PDD, Asperger's syndrome, MDD, and Bipolar Disorder.
Approaches utilized included CBT and supportive therapy.

Worked with adult psychiatric patients with serious persistent mental
illness residing in locked inpatient wards. Co-led symptom management

for clients diagnosed with Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, and Mental
Retardation. Assisted in running token economy on ward with dual-

Research Assistant
New York Services Study, New York, NY
Participated in research on the effects of housing-first versus
treatment-first programs on dual-diagnosed (mental illness and substance
abuse) formerly homeless populations. Created open
codes from qualitative interviews for paper to be published, conducted
interviews with clients, transcribed in-depth qualitative interviews,
entered data in SPSS, and maintained contact with participants. This
study was funded by the National Institute of Mental Health.

Participated in research projects including assessments of children's
cognitive development. This included home visits with low-income,
minority mothers and their 2-year-old children. Coded nonverbal
behaviors of mother-infant dyads during teaching tasks using a software
program called INTERACT.

Assistant Photo Editor, then Photo Editor and sole staff photographer
for 14 weekly newspapers. This included attending and photographing
several community events per week. Managed photo department, hired and
supervised freelance photographers, coordinated with each paper's editor
and reporter. Won awards for news photography, feature photography,
picture story, and sports action photography from the New York Press
Association and Press Club of Long Island.
