Project Description:
The FACTS (Flexible Alternating Current Transmission System) technology is
promising technology to achieve complete deregulation of power system i.e.
Generation, Transmission, Distribution as the complete individual units.
FACTS are based on power electronic devices, used to enhance the existing
transmission capabilities in order to make the transmission system flexible
and independent in operation. The loading capability can also be enhanced
nearer to its thermal limit with affecting the stability

Project title: MULTICONVERTER UNIFIED POWER-QUALITY
CONDITIONING SYSTEM: MC-UPQC
Project Description:
In order to meet PQ standard limits, it may be necessary to
include some sort of compensation. Modern solutions can be found in the
form of active rectification or active filtering. A unified power
quality conditioner (UPQC) is the extension of the unified power-flow
controller (UPFC) concept at the distribution level. An IPFC consists
of two series VSCs whose dc capacitors are coupled. This allows active
power to circulate between the VSCs. With this configuration, two lines
can be controlled simultaneously to optimize the network utilization.

Project Description:
Electrical energy is produced on a very large scale by use of turbo
generators. A generator is an electromechanical device which converts
mechanical energy to electrical energy. Mechanical energy is obtained by a
prime mover. Often, it is a turbine powered by the kinetic energy of water,
steam pressure, gas pressure etc. if the generator is directly coupled to
the turbine, it is called a turbo generator. A generator works on the
principle of Faraday's laws of Electromagnetic Induction.
