OBJECTIVE
DEMONSTRATE ENTHUSIASM AND ABILITY TO EXCEL IN SALES AND
CUSTOMER RELATIONS
EXPERIENCE
2012 – Present Bought, renovated, and resold foreclosed condominiums in Daytona Beach.
Few desirable bank owned condos remain in this area, so I’m now eager to
join a good company that needs a team player who can make things happen.
1900 – 2012 Eastern Sales Manager, Baha Cruisers, Mayo, FL
In addition to setting up new dealers, trained dealers and their salespeople to
market powerboats manufactured by Baha. Introduced a T.O. system and
closed for dealers at boat shows from Miami to New York. Sales tripled and
continued to climb until the recession in 2009 devastated the entire boating
industry. A fire in the lamination area forced the factory to close in 2012.
1982 - 1900 President, Marathon Boat Mfg. Co., Kershaw, SC
In addition to executive duties, recruited, trained, and directed a sales team
that sold boats for Marathon dealers at boat shows from Key West to Chicago
to Boston. Sales climbed from $1 million in 1982 to $30 million in 1988.
This
led to Marathon being acquired by Aeronca, an aerospace company. After
unsuccessfully venturing into the computer chip business, Aeronca become
insolvent two years later. This was the death of Marathon.
1980 – 1982 Sales Manager, Galaxy Boat Mfg. Co., Columbia, SC
Started as a Rep, became sales manager. Despite a recession, sales increased
30%. Left Galaxy to become president of Marathon – a start- up company
whose majority shareholder also owned Galaxy.
EDUCATION
Duke University – Durham, NC
Majored in marketing, and was active in sports and social activities. Worked part time in a local
sporting goods store and wrote a fishing and hunting column that appeared weekly in two area
newspapers. Also worked during the summers as a lifeguard at Myrtle Beach, SC.
Was educated to the world of business when employed by Lever Bros – a division of Unilever.
Completed Dale Carnegie Course, and successfully introduced Imperial Margarine to food
chains and distributers in the Carolinas. After winning a national ad contest, was promoted and
got to work with Foote, Cone & Belding – Unilever’s ad agency in Chicago. This experience
proved invaluable; but the call of the water prevailed, leading to a sales position with Galaxy.
