ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I am returning to the world of employment after a gap in my journey. During this time I earned the title of
certified, “Granny Nanny,” chief cook and bottle washer for the Campbell family. Lindsey, my only child gave
birth to her third daughter at thirty-one weeks. My son-in-law was serving in the Air Force. The baby weighed
in at three pounds and an extensive hospital stay was inevitable. The hospital is well over an hour away from
their home. In addition, their middle child, age three at the time, suffers from mental illness and needs almost
constant supervision. The oldest granddaughter, Ivy was, age four at the time, and required the normal things
four year olds need, “time from a loved one.” I lived over seven hours away from them.
So, this is how my role of “Granny Nanny” originated. I was the perfect candidate for the job. First and foremost,
I am Mom and Grandma. Also qualifying me for the role, is the fact I am a certified special education teacher.
It doesn’t hurt that I am a wonderful organizer and planner. “Oh!,” and another great selling point, no need for
“Nanny Cams.” Good ole grandma is trustworthy. I was honored to offer the time and support to the Campbell
family. My son-in-law was able to serve our country without worrying about the well-being of his family and
grandma got hugs and kisses from her babies every day.
So, now, my role as a “Granny Nanny,” has come to a close. I am now just, Nana. My son-in-law has served
his term in active duty and now in the reserves. Great connections in Air Force helped him land a wonderful job
here in the Houston area. Jillienne, age two, the early arrival, has now met all of her development milestones
and has been discharged from care at the developmental center. Claira, age 5 has a wonderful behavior
management plan, developed by me, of course, and a medication regiment that is working well. She is stable
and under the care of a great psychiatrist. She will be in kindergarten when school starts. Ivy, age 6, my number
one is still the breath of fresh air Nana loves to see popping into her room every morning wanting to tackle the
world. She will be in first grade when school starts. God has truly blessed me with this role. My daughter, with
the help of her husband, can handle anything from this point forward.
Now, I am ready to do what I do best. Find a challenge and tackle it!
Sincerely
