Duties and Responsibilities of custodial SUPERVISOR
Primary Duties:
* . Implement oral and written instructions.
* Observe all safety procedures.
* Supervise all custodial staff in assigned building.
* . Submit work orders for repairs, building maintenance and supplies to building
administration for data entry into Work Order System.
* Evaluate performance of custodial staff at the direction of the Assistant Director of
Buildings and Grounds.
* Evaluate custodial products upon request.
* Train new and substitute custodians as needed.
* Inspect and report all vandalism occurring in the building to the building administrator
and Buildings & Grounds Department.
* Report excessive energy consumption such as excessive lighting, heat loss from open
windows, lack of proper caulking of windows, etc.
* Report security violations such as unlocked windows, doors, failure to set alarm system,
unauthorized persons in building, etc.
Specific Duties:
* Execute all duties assigned to building custodial staff as indicated by written policies,
schedules, memorandum or instructions of Buildings & Grounds management.
* Instruct custodial staff in proper method of all cleaning procedures including but not
limited to floor cleaning, burnishing, waxing, chalkboard cleaning, etc.
* Discuss custodial staff problems with Assistant Director of Buildings and Grounds.
* Coordinate with Assistant Director of Buildings and Grounds any needed special
cleaning schedules.
* Assure that all time sheets and absence reports are completed properly each day and are
sent to the Buildings and Grounds Department per established schedule each week.
* Demonstrate by example and instruction the high quality performance expected from the
custodial staff.
* Ensure that District policies are carried out per instructions of Buildings & Grounds
management and building administration.
* Assist Assistant Director of Buildings and Grounds with in-service programs as needed.
Miscellaneous Duties:
* Be prepared to handle emergency situations as needed. In the event of building damage,
make minor repairs until maintenance department staff can make necessary final repairs.
* Check assigned building for heating/cooling and security problems during holidays,
weekends and inclement weather as needed.
* Know location and operation of all fire extinguishers, emergency cut-off valves, reset
buttons, breakers and switches for all utilities, furnaces, circulating pumps, etc.
* Post emergency telephone list of fire department, police department, utility companies
and maintenance personnel to contact in event of emergency situation.
* Perform all duties as assigned by Buildings & Grounds Department management and/or
