Responsibilities

Supervision of the rehabilitation of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) lanes, including rigid pavement constructions

for lay-bys and the Lagos Island Central Terminal. Asphalt maintenance works and other road projects

were also supervised.

Supervision of the complete rehabilitation of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) office, Abeokuta.

Here, French Drains, Storm Water Drains, Floating Bridge, Facility Building, major earth works and

Retaining Walls are being constructed.

Preparation of structural drawings, bar bending schedules and basic structural calculations/design.

Skills Required/Acquired

Leadership Skills – Responsible and accountable for my section on site including whilst being consulted

and informed on happenings on two other sections on same site (most especially during setting-out). It also

required me to be innovative and a careful risk taker especially when consulted.

Team Working Spirit – Being in a team of three Project Engineers, required that we collaborate by

brainstorming, sharing ideas, and rendering assistance to one another to achieve one goal; which was to

deliver the project to the client’s specification while adhering to company policies.

Supervision of a piling site where 72No. 450mm diameter cast-in-place piles were installed.

Supervision of sub-soil investigation sites where Standard Penetration Tests (SPT), Cone Penetration Test

(CPT) were performed and the preparation of structural drawings and bar bending schedule.

Roundabout capacity assessments (using ARCADY) and signalisations (using LinSig).

Highway design with a focus on calculation and preparation of mass haul data and profile from a

detailed geographical map with known soil type.

Traffic data collection and analysis for classified count, vehicle occupancy, spot speed, queue

Modelling using SATURN to analyse traffic situations for three scenarios (base year, do-minimum

and do-something) using appropriate indicators. Thus, leading to a proper assessment of the

performance of the traffic improvement strategy; further recommendations were given.

Modelling using DRACULA to evaluate the impact of traffic improvement strategies on a

SATURN model of a region. Recommendations based on findings were made.

Modelling of land use scenarios and analysing their impacts on traffic on a predefined network

using OmniTRANS.

Comprehensive statistical analysis of quantitative data using SPSS and geographical presentation

of results using ArcGIS.

Preparation of a rail franchise bid for an airport-access service which built on a research into

changes to timetables, fares, other aspect of service delivery and operating cost. Demand and cost

models were formulated and with the franchise statistics, they were used to forecast demand,

revenue, costs and profit under different scenarios of service levels and fares.

Preparations of an Equality Impact Assessment (EIA) for a Shared Space Scheme.

Development of a strategy plan to meet the objective of a sustainable transport system; involved

preparing an appraisal framework, problem analysis and assessment, policies formulation and

implementation process.
