Metal Forming Machine (This is a federal job)
Duties, Accomplishments and Related Skills:
I receive 6,and 2 round shell racks for the M1A1 Abrams Tank from the disassembly area. I rework
the racks in a production environment. I disassemble and clean the shell racks. I than rework and
reassemble the racks by replacing all hardware, button, springs, tubes and other items using hand
tools such as pneumatic grinders impact wrenches, sockets, and hydraulic hand tool. I check the fit
of the tubes using a dummy round supplied by General Dynamic’s operator the tool and bending
machine, which I set up the parts to the machine by putting the top and bottom die on. While using
this machine I bent steel and aluminum which make door pull, snake, bow handle and the grips.
While bending I have to check the radius of the material and program the degree for the material.
Also modify storage boxes for 113 which contain changing riveters and check for crack and all
other damage. Which I use a hammer, screwdriver and a grinder than I send these parts to the
welder. This job requires me to stand up, bend, left 20 pounds and using all air tools, and I also
modify the ducks for the combat vehicles.

I can operate conventional machine tools. I can operate lathes to chamfer plugs for M88 hub holes
repairs. I have operated radial drill presses to drill and tap holes in M88 hubs. I have operated
horizontal boring mills to prebore M88 and M60 road wheel arms. I have operated horizontal milling
machines to cut key slots in road arm upper spindles. I have broached internal splines with
broaching machine. I can use precision measuring instruments such as outside micrometers, dial
calipers, steel rules and various gages. I use 600 ton hydraulic press to remove spindles from idler
and road arms. I use a wide variety of hand and power tools to assemble road wheel arms and
perform other mechanical work. I have chased hub holes threads with impact wrench and hand
taps. I have worked with various materials such as 6061 aluminum, 4130, 4140, 1020, and A2
steel. I can also operate material handling equipment such as fork lifts and cranes. I set up and
operate a variety of metal forming machines such as sheet metal rolls, power brakes, punch
presses, shears, metal fabricator, band saws, nibblers, riveting machines and other similar
machines required in the fabrication of parts, components and assemblies used in repair, rebuild
and overhaul of maintenance mission item such as combat vehicles, optical instruments, artillery
weapons, small arms weapons and missile guidance systems. I plan and layout work, establish
work points on metal ranging from simple lines to complex contours, curves, angles, pitch, etc. I
perform all steps involved in the cutting, bending and forming operations and assembly of items. I

disassembles parts, units, assemblies, and sub-assemblies. Properly blast controls and
appropriate abrasives or mixtures of blasting compounds for new or delicate metal or nonmetal
work pieces. Locate surfaces to be blasted from oral written instructions. Diagnose problems such
as pressure leaks, poor cutting quality and uneven blasts, using guidelines such as technical
orders and shop manuals. Makes adjustment to the machine to ensure dimensional, accuracy and
type of finish required. Cognizant of cutting speeds of different types and grades of abrasives with
