Position: Inspector A
Conducted daily inspections of high quality welds for wind tower and water
transmission pipe-line projects utilizing all forms of non-destructive
examinations.
Such duties include measuring full length of metal plates using the metric
system, measuring the landing and bevels with a bridge cam, checking the
roll and re-roll of the cans using a sweep.
Performed fit-up inspections to assure offset between cans were tolerable
within specification limits.
Checked layout and fit-up of clips/brackets with tape measures and hand held
lasers.
Visually checked longitudinal and circumferential weld seams for defects
usually such as pin holes, porosity, under cut, under fill, cold lap etc.
Other inspections carried out included visual or fluorescent penetrant testing,
dry or wet magnetic particle testing using a AC/DC yoke,
taking overall lengths of the pipe and cylindricity of each can using hand
lasers, checking flanges for flatness and lay-back using a E-Z Lazer.
Ultrasonic testing longitudinal and circumferential seams for defects using
the Omni Scan model MX scope where daily calibrations were performed
on my equipment.
Analyzed and interpreted blueprints, data, and manuals to determine precise
specifications
Marked welds with grade and acceptance-rejection status
Mantained operations below a 1% error rate
Documented, filed and maintained proper inspection records and quality
assurance documents.
I also have done Holiday test, Soap and Air, Hydro test, checked Blast
profiles, Metalizing and DFT readings with a mill gauge. I have used
micrometers, bridge cams, diameter tapes, various lasers, and pit gauges.
I spent two years on swing shift and one year on grave yard where I was lead
man for both shifts.
Responsible for filling out daily reports on inspections completed, making sure
we had all supplies that would be needed on our shifts and everyone was
wearing their proper safety equipment and following work procedures.
