Objective

Secure work in building or property maintenance, metal fabrication/welding. Worked for united airlines at RSW as a temp ramp agent from Oct 2013 to May 2014

Qualifications

Experienced GTAW,SMAW, MIG welder. Ability to weld irons, stainless steel, brass, and aluminum. Able to take a job from layout to completion. Use of sheet metal press brake, metal rollers and formers, hand and power tools, polishing and grinding tools. Mechanical ability in the repair or replacement of window regulators, power or manual, door latches, handles power door lock actuators, mirrors, assembly and keying of door lock cylinders, removal, assembly and keying of ignition lock cylinders, repair of all parts required for truck tailgates and some liftgate experience. Have worked on hydraulics for snow plow lift cylinders, troubleshooting and repairing. Welding of sheet metal body parts and door skins. Bending and straightening of metal using an acetylene/oxygen torch outfit. Use of plasma cutter, die grinders, power and manual, air tools. Adjusting of door hinges, strikers, for alignment of doors. Replacement of hinge pins and bushings on GM models. Can use a test light and simple testing equipment. Can design and fabricate necessary brackets or fixtures needed for shop use.Also building maintenance and repair as needed.

Rebuilding of truck air compressors, valves,pumps and electrical components.

Education

Quigley South H.S., Washburne Trade School for sheet metal apprenticeship, air conditioning and heating, body work. Obtained certificates in all. Some college, no degree. Former of Local 73 and Local 115 sheet metal workers. Currently in International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Iron ship builders, Blacksmiths, Forgers & Helpers, AFL-CIO,CLC.

Relevant Experience

25 years with the City of Chicago Fleet Maintenance doing sheet metal work, welding and repairing of light duty pick-ups, vans, and automobiles. Fabrication and maintenance of shop equipment and building maintenance. Currently work alone as single Blacksmith in shop! Also worked for Chicago Fire Dept., before fleet took over, working on fire trucks, fire engines, ambulances, fabricating steps, running boards, repair of aerial ladders and aerial baskets, also various sizes of other ladders. Repair of seats and interior crew cab area, engine doghouse and leaf spring replacement along with axle replacement. Removal and welding of water tanks in engines.

Repair of water pumps, valves, etc.

Other Experience

Building maintenance and repair of city facilities as needed.
