Job Objective

I am seeking a job in which I can be considered an asset to the company, whether it be for

assistance, knowledge and use of my life skills in a conductive manner. I am not afraid of a

challenge. Pick up on things very easily.

Summary

Last 7 years I was Logistics Manager for a furniture company in Grand Rapids. I established

many new procedures & programs. On time delivery was never below 99.6% in any of the years

I was there.

Formally a Court Officer / Special Deputy Sheriff, former Firefighter / EMT, and have learned

many people skills from these lines of work. I also worked part time at the Caledonia American

Legion Post and also part time for the Village of Middleville.

I worked for a company for 17-1/2 yrs, starting in general labor employee as a machine operator,

shipping and receiving supervisor and worked my way to a management position in 4 yrs.

Continued to learn all I could of the business, and continued to grow in management positions. I

also worked as assistant dispatcher, and Traffic Manager.

I have some computer skills (MS Office), can drive switch truck, and feel I have good people

skills.

I am involved with American Legion Post 305 in Caledonia MI, in the Sons of the American

Legion and the American Legion Riders. Also, I am very involved in The American Cancer

Society Relay for Life of Barry County.

I was formally involved in Youth Companion of Barry County (Big Brothers/Big Sisters).

Former Director of the Middleville Jaycees, and currently belong to Middleville Village Players,

which is a community theater group.

Work Experience

5/14/2007 - 2/12/2014 - RT London Co - Logistics Manager - Oversaw the shipping, receiving

and warehousing of furniture produced primarily for college dorms & military barracks. Set up

freight carrier contracts, maintained shipping schedule, figured total number of loads per order,

established delivery times with customers, scheduled loads with carriers (TL, LTL & UPS

services), inventory and QC. I dealt with DOT compliance on a corporate wide basis. I did the

hiring for shipping & receiving personnel (primarily summer help) as well as employee reviews.

For the last year, I was also the Safety Director and conducted all Forklift training.

2002 -12/4/06 57th District Court (Allegan) / Kalamazoo Court Services (Kalamazoo Sheriffs

Dept) Court Officer / Special Deputy Sheriff -

I was self-employed, working in the Civil Division of the court system in the State of Michigan.

Serve general court documents, do Seizures of Property against defendants with a judgment

against them, do Orders of Eviction, and Civil Claim & Delivery. I attended two yearly seminars

that update current Michigan Statues and case law.

2004 - 2007 P/T Village of Middleville, Middleville MI

Code Enforcement Officer -

Enforce the ordinances, codes and regulations set by the Village Council.

Responsibilities included written contact and verbal contact with the residents of the Village of

Middleville. Also includes writing citations, attending hearings and updating the council on

various situations.

2002 - 2004 P/T Barry County Expo Center, Hastings MI

Supervisor -

During the Barry County Fair in the month of July, I would supervise a Work Release crew from

the Barry County Jail. Responsibilities included pickup and delivery of crew to and from the jail,

set up of various fair exhibits, report performance and disciplinary matters to the Director of

Work Release for the Barry County Jail, general grounds maintenance including running county

water truck and large plow truck, and assisting the general public when needed.

Bartender -

Responsibilities include making and serving drinks, cleanliness of bar area, process of Michigan

Gaming tickets, responsible for all monies exchanged for bar products and gaming tickets.

Customer service and safety, making sure building is secured when closing.

2001 - 2002 ER Express Brokerage Inc.

Co- Owner / President Freight Brokerage Responsibilities included : Securing freight loads from

customers and contracting carriers to haul both TL and LTL freight to desired destinations.

General office duties, billing, obtaining oversize permits, DOT standards for brokerage and

shipment.

1985 - 1995 Thornapple Township Emergency Services, Middleville MI

Part Paid Volunteer Firefighter / Emergency Medical Technician

Responsibilities included all aspects of firefighting and emergency medicine, equipment care,

emergency vehicle driving, and Fire Prevention Week training.

1983 - 2001 Falcon Foam Inc, Byron Center MI

General Labor / Production Manager / Assistant Dispatcher/ Traffic Manager

Responsibilities included: Quality control, safety, shipping & receiving, all aspects of production

for a seven (7) department manufacturer of Expanded Polystyrene (Styrofoam) packaging and

insulation products. Also included raw material ordering and purchasing, employee performance

reviews, job promotion, and occasionally hiring of production employees. The last 6 months of

employment were as Traffic Manager, dealing with all aspects of product transportation, DOT

codes and employee performance.

Downsized in 2001, after company was bought out by another company.

Unload trucks, stock merchandise in storeroom, set up of displays, assembly of various items

purchased by the general public.

Graduated in 1980 with general studies. C+, B- grades. Participated in football, wrestling,

baseball, and theater arts. Close Up government program for 3 years.

1985 State of Michigan EMT Training, Hastings MI

Passed class with a grade of 98%

1986 State of Michigan Firefighter I & II Training

Passed the classes with a grade of 99%

2002 - 2006 Court Officers and Deputy Sheriff’s Association of Michigan Training Seminars

Twice yearly attend 8 hr seminars to learn updated state statues, and hear different perspectives

of Attorneys and Judges. Currently a Certified Eviction Specialist, and taking certification test

for Certified Court Officer in November.

Community Service
