Summary

Michael is an accomplished family life educator and trainer with a track record of

Prepare and deliver lectures to undergraduate students on a wide range of topics including: mid-

childhood to adolescence, parenting, development during adolescence and emerging adulthood,

adult development, lifespan development, marriage and family, strategies for family life

education programs, ethnicity and human services, global cross cultural learning, International

Families, Cross-cultural education, courtship and marriage, dynamics of marital interaction,

family dynamics for human development, human sexuality, gender studies, development across

the life span, research methods, measurement and data collection, and workplace social

relations.

Plan, direct, or coordinate research, students’ instruction, student advisement and counseling,

and related educational activities at college level. Compile bibliographies of specialize materials

for outside reading assignments. Compile, administer, and grade examinations and projects.

Advise students on issues such as course selection, progress toward graduation, and career

decisions.

Adviser to student organizations, advisor to students on academic and vocational curricula, and

career issues. Collaborate with colleagues to address teaching and research issues. Two years’

the Cross-National Study on Adolescent Social Competence (ASC) a 12 nation

cross-cultural survey study that focuses on how parents influence the

development of socially adaptive behaviors by adolescents.

o Phase II of the study on the role of ritual in facilitating human life-course

transition to adulthood currently focusing on female puberty rituals among Kikuyu

women in Kenya – data analysis ongoing (Contemporary meaning of the female

circumcision ritual in Sub-Sahara Africa, 2009 to date).
