Objective
My objective is to secure a position that is year round and can utilize my
skills and experience. I am seeking a decent wage to support my family. I
want to find a suitable company for which I would stay until retirement.
Background and Experience
I grew up on a farm and am used to working from sun up to sun down. I
graduated high school and had some college at Hamilton Tech, but, was more
prepared for hard work than going on in College. I enjoy hard work because
of my Upbringing. From this I have learned so many things. I can drive
anything, know how to operate most heavy equipment, and not stop until the
work is done. I started working at Alexander
Lumber in addition to Farming. In this position I learned a lot of
Organizational Skills, and use of many different types of equipment. I
moved to the Quad Cities from Joy Il. From there I worked at Walgreens as a
Clerk and learned many People Skills and Professionalism. At the same time
I worked doing Professional Landscaping after my day job. I then took a
higher paying position at Brammer Manufacturing, in a Factory Setting,
Making Cabinets, where I learned to be in a repetitive, very time oriented
setting, until the company went out of business. I then took a position at
Mill Town Wood Products as a Sander. By then my new wife and I moved back
to Mercer County to start a family. I then became a Grain Operator for
Mccaw Farms, overseeing and working all aspects of farming including,
planting, harvesting, delivering and monitoring and caring for the land,
the intake and management of incoming inventory and corn product, measuring
temperatures and adjusting situations according to the need at any hour of
the day. I also worked for Mer-Roc FS at this time Hauling Anhydrous,
moving and filling tanks and spraying fields. We returned to the Quad
Cities to fulfill the educational needs of our two sons. I then started at
Tri-City Black Top and became a Union Laborer. I started out shoveling, and
worked my way up to Foreman for the Crushing Crew. In this position, I
oversaw incoming material, loading, unloading trucks, weighing of materials
and overseeing very large equipment, production, monitoring the crew,
including work hours, quality, and direction. I suffered a severe injury,
which took a 5 year recovery period, one month after we moved. During
recovery, I became a certified Home Inspector, Mold Inspector and Radon
Inspector. Once completed and I had my business plan in place, tax ID,
website and functional Business layout, the housing market crashed, along
with my business. I pushed on, as I always do, and went back to another
Crushing Crew after recovery. I am currently on seasonal lay off. I have
passed 1 of 2 state boards to become a Licensed Insurance agent as a Back
Up plan. I am looking outside of the box to find the right position to
utilize my skills, year round, until retirement. I believe I would be a
great asset in the right position.
