RESEARCH EXPERIENCE (Total Experience: 1.5 years)
Research Associate, United Health Services via Watson Institute for Systems Excellence, Binghamton, NY
(September 2012- Present)
1. Patient Flow Simulation Model
Built a comprehensive discrete event simulation model of patient flow in Emergency Department
(ED), Operating Room (OR) and Inpatient Unit (IU) .
Developed a Multi-ED and OR simulation model for two hospitals and analyzed patient transfer
system in the model.
2. Timely Inpatient Discharge: Team member of a Lean six sigma project for reducing patient discharge
process time and streamlining the inpatient discharge process.
3. Electronic Breast Surgery Nurse Navigation Tool
Developed a nurse navigation tool using advanced VBA programming skills to automatically .
retrieve any patient’s breast surgery database and also generate patient related statistics.
4. Diabetic Patient Blood Pressure Level Prediction Model (In progress)
Analyzed data of all 4 methods currently used to obtain blood pressure levels of a patient
ANOVA analysis to compare these 4 methods’ accuracy of measuring blood pressure levels of a
diabetic patient (In progress)
1
5. Predicting Surgery Duration Using Data Mining Technique
Analyzed significant factors affecting surgery time of any patient at UHS
Performed binary logistic regression analysis to accurately predict surgery duration of a patient
Research Student, Anveshak Technology and Knowledge Solutions –Binghamton University Research
Centre, Pune, India (May 2011 – May 2012)
Pharmacy Supply Chain Automation
Studied present pharmacy supply chain in India
Analyzed pharmacy management data
Performed requirement analysis for automation
Developed a web- based application in order to establish a centralized communication of all supply
chain actors in pharmacy management
Performed value analysis (profit analysis, monetary savings, ease of accessibility)
