Dear Laboratory Technician Selection Committee:

I am writing to express my interest in the laboratory technician position

that recently opened. I believe that my work experience and education

qualify me for this position.

My current laboratory technician position with the crime scene response

bureau, contract laboratory technician position in the forensic biology

bureau, internship, and volunteer work with the Phoenix Police Department

Crime Laboratory over the last seven years has provided work experience in

the forensic biology, toxicology, and crime scene response sections of the

laboratory. I have had the opportunity to prepare reagents, perform and

record QA/QC testing and maintain log books and inventories, maintain

police laboratory files, participate in the proper handling of biological

waste, hazardous chemicals and sterilization of laboratory utensils. I

have also provided support to the analysts, as needed in the lab and out in

the field. Additionally, I am familiar with chain of custody and clean

techniques.

Furthermore, I am proficient in the use of a number of computer programs

such as Access, Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point, PACE and Laboratory

Information Management System currently in use at the Phoenix Crime

Laboratory.

In addition to my current laboratory technician position, contract work,

volunteer and internship experience in the field, I have completed more

than thirty college credit hours in the physical sciences. I am pursuing a

Bachelor of Science degree in biology to be completed in December 2014.

I am hard-working, organized and adept in learning new skills. I am highly

ethical and trustworthy and believe that I have the attributes necessary to

be a productive member of any team. I am confident in my abilities and am

anxious for an opportunity to utilize my education, experience and skills

in a laboratory technician position.

Thank you in advance for your consideration,

Lindsey M. Blanton
