Current position
. I have been working in the office of neurologist Richard Karem, MD since
I qualified as a nurse practitioner in February 2004. In this capacity I
see patients both in the office and hospital, and consult on patients
referred to neurology service. I perform minor procedures such as skin
biopsies and Botox injections for migraine headache prevention. I do a
large amount of patient education.
. I am interested in care of those patients with end of life disease such
as brain tumor, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and Creutzfeldt-Jacob
disease.
. Proficient in performing electroencephalograms.
. I program deep brain stimulators for Parkinson and essential tremor.
. I am proficient in comprehensive neurobehavioral evaluations.
. I have special interest in Parkinson's disease and headache.

Registered Nurse, Since 1984 I have been in various positions as an RN.
Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, I worked at Redding Medical Center
in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. I enjoy the more fast paced
environments as well as clinic work.
Preceptorship: A total of over 600 hours of preceptorship in pediatrics,
geriatrics, OB/gyn and family practice:
Geriatric preceptorship with J. Russ Mann, MD. In his Redding office
practice. Particular focus was on cardiac diagnoses by physical finding
though certainly not limited to this.
Obstetric & Gynecology preceptorship was with the Paradise Midwifery
Service, with Cheryl Struve, CNM-NP, MSN. In the office practices of Chico
and Paradise, and Feather River hospital.
Pediatrics preceptorship in Folsom with Mehdi Arab, MD was a fast paced
experience.
Family Practice preceptorship with Norman K. Arai, MD in Anderson. A small
and very busy family practice office with one MD and a FNP.
Neurology preceptorship with Richard Karem, MD. In office procedures with
which I have assisted and/or performed include nerve conduction studies,
electromyography and electroencephalograms.

PERSONAL
I enjoy gardening, travel, SCUBA diving, cooking and knitting. I
especially enjoy visiting with my family back in Great Britain.
