February

2013

Contracted to DuPont for work in the Genetic Discovery lab.

Began work on an Arabidopsis assay that deals directly with finding mutant outliers for stress tolerances with

growth and decay curves. This high-throughput screening was highly dependant on close attention to detail,

standardized practices among team members, and individual work with gene identification.

Specific training involved gene isolation and amplification, Gateway® Cloning technology, construction of

primers, ligations with restriction enzymes, transformation into E. coli, agrobacterium, and Arabidopsis plants,

as well as DNA extraction and purification from plant tissue.

Generated and compiled data on genes of interest and kept organized collections of seeds.

Rectify issues when particular methods proved non-universal. It was necessary to have a good understanding

of the material in order to complete tasks sufficiently.
