After leading the successful construction of a new chewing gum factory, was promoted to lead the efficient local operation of
2 confectionery manufacturing plants in Cali, Colombia. Coordinated supply chain, production, quality, maintenance, and R&D
activities. Projected capacity increases, implemented quality improvements, and reduced costs. Evaluated deployment of

Supply Chain Management and Purchasing Responsibilities :
Seek and appraise new domestic and international sources of supply – including planning and buying imported
products and equipment from Ecuador, Peru, Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Italy, Spain, and China.
Develop and Align replenishment and sourcing strategies to balance supply and demand at the lowest cost

Proactively implement strategic solutions for continuous improvement in supply chain, maintenance, quality,

Manage monthly S&OP process, to ensure alignment between Customer, Commercial, Marketing and Finance
departments.
Oversees Manufacturing, Planning, Quality, Internal Logistics & Shipping, Maintenance departments. Ensure
that all quality standards, specifications and policies are met or exceeded by driving continuous process and
manufacturing improvements
Develop and manage the annual standard cost process, providing all standard cost data to the Finance function as
required for the budgeting process.

Initiated production at the new pills gum facility, reaching its highest capacity level in just 60 days.
Led implementation of Theory of Constraints (TOC) methodology for Operations and Supply Chain, across
planning, purchasing, logistics and production, guaranteeing 98% availability of raw material and finished products to
the confectionery plants, main warehouse and regional warehouses. Negotiated agreements with suppliers to reduce
replenishment time of raw materials, reducing inventory levels 30% over the last 2 years.
Reduced labor costs 5% in packaging and wrapping processes by implementing kaizen events.

Plant Manager – Cali, Colombia (May 2005 – Dec 2009)
Responsible for manufacturing operations at a confectionary plant in Cali, Colombia producing gum pellets, gum balls, and
hard, soft and liquid candies. Ensured adequate supply of finished product to fulfill the business plan. Implemented lean
manufacturing tools (e.g., SMED, VRK, 5s,TPM) and continuous improvement to increase productivity and streamline
processes. Evaluated potential deployment of promising new technologies. Negotiated with suppliers of raw materials and
packaging. Monitored and controlled the production plan for each site. Administered finished product inventories in the
distribution center, and developed strategies to optimize inventory of raw materials and finished product.
Led logistics and planning process for the construction of a new confectionery factory for pellet gum. Worked in
conjunction with the project engineer; participated in the planning process since 2008. Negotiated the timely purchase
and import of machinery.
Conducted feasibility study to evaluate the centralization of logistics warehouses. Recommended and secured
approval for the construction of one single warehouse to achieve substantial cost and inventory efficiencies.
Project managed the implementation of a new product lines including a liquid candy line and a bubble gum ball
product line.
Planning and Purchasing Manager – Bogota, Colombia (Apr 2003 – May 2005)
For a logistics operation with 5 distribution centers and 24 regional warehouses, was responsible for the supply of finished
products from the distribution centers to agencies. Planned and purchased finished products for suppliers (Henkel, Bayer,
Wieth, Eveready, Newel Rubbermaid). Responsible for integrated logistics including warehousing, inventory control,
transportation, and port operations. Evaluated and qualified local suppliers; conduct freight negotiation with local and
international carriers.
Drove continuous improvement in Forecast Accuracy and Bias, including root cause analysis of variances and
corrective action.
Provides rigorous analysis of spend data, market trends and industry dynamics to prioritize and launch sourcing
initiatives
