I am a seasoned Human Resources professional with over six
years of work experience in various HR Generalist roles. My education
includes a Bachelors degree in Business Administration (3 years full time
degree program) from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University in 2003, a
Masters Degree in Personnel Management (2-years full time degree program)
from University of Pune in 2006 and one year Post Bachelors Diploma in
Labour Laws in the year 2005. To supplement my formal education, I have
also pursued distance education in Training and Development in the year
2010. At present, I am a CHRP candidate. All of my international
educational credentials have been verified by ICAS, Canada and found at par
with Canadian Education system.
Over the past six years I have built competencies in recruitment (360
degree full cycle), selection and orientation, labour relations, payroll,
performance management, training and development and designing policies and
procedures for all the levels of management. My international experience
has been evaluated and submitted to HRPA.
My practical experience includes service as a HR Generalist in support
of senior executives in a medium sized manufacturing firm. Specific roles
included recruitment (at both the management and general workforce level),
handling payroll for more than 500 employees, filing licenses and
monitoring relevant labour legislation at the plant level etc. Building
upon this base, I accepted another similar position in the Oil & Gas
Production sector, where I broadened my capabilities through designing an
HR manual, managing a probation and performance appraisal system,
recruiting using social media and job portals, undertaking reference
checks, managing payroll and compensation and assuring legislative
compliance.
In late 2011, I re-located to Sudbury, Ontario for family reasons. I
joined Health Sciences North (formerly known as Sudbury Regional Hospital)
as a Human Resources Advisor on a contract position. At the Hospital, I
was responsible for handling matters related to Compensation and
Recruitment. My duties included research using various sources like Ontario
Hospital Association data, market trends in and around Sudbury for the
purpose of wage determination and benefit allocation for RN's, RPN's,
Orthopedics and other medical staff. I independently drafted management
employment contracts and provided advice to Managers/Medical Directors
regarding salary schedules and benefits allocation at the time of
recruitment and appraisals.
After completing my contract role at the hospital, I joined the City
of Greater Sudbury as a Human Resources Analyst - Labour Relations. My
major job responsibilities included
. Administration of Collective Bargaining Agreements for four
Unions - CUPE- 4705, CUPE - 148, ONA, and Sudbury Professional
Fire Fighters' Association. Specific duties included monitoring
and communicating changes in policies, procedures and processes
to the Union and Departmental Heads.
. Conducted extensive research on projects like General Wage
Increase, market trends in Ontario and other North Eastern
Municipalities.
. Assessed Grievances and suggested possible solutions to
Management on the basis of case law research.
. Drafted Employer Proposals and Sign-offs during Negotiations.
. Actively participated in the Negotiations process for CUPE - 148
and CUPE - 4705, acting as regular liaison with Legal counsel,
Union representatives and Union executive members regarding
Arbitrations, Mediation, Negotiations and other day to day
activities etc.
In January 2014, I moved to Toronto in support of my spouse's career
advancement.
In summary I offer a broad range of HR related skills and experiences
applied in three sectors and with employees in both unionized and non-
unionized settings.
I am a life long learner constantly upgrading my knowledge (recent
training in WHMIS, for example) and technical skills (PeopleSoft (SAP), MS
Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), Meditech, Tally, Outlook Express and
Novell Groupwise).
I have enclosed my resume for your consideration. I would welcome a
discussion about what I offer.
Sincerely,
Nidhi Chadha
