Objective
My primary objective is to positively influence the lives of as many
children and adolescents as possible. I would like to do this by working
with them in both non-ministry and ministry settings. As a TSS, my goal
would to be a mentor and a helper to the student(s) with which I am
working; helping them to achieve and discover their unique potential.
Experience
Grace United Methodist, Camp Hill, PA
Youth Ministry Intern, January 2013 - May 2013
As a Youth Ministry Intern, my main role was to build and foster
relationships with students. I was also involved in planning events as
well as weekly services and activities. I taught lessons, led small
groups, and created and led games.
Stillmeadow Church of the Nazarene, York, PA
Children's Ministry Intern, May 2011 - August 2011
As Children's Ministry Intern, I worked under the current Children's Pastor
at Stillmeadow in order to learn from her, help her, and to help develop a
children's program for the churches Urban Campus. I prepared and taught
lessons, led games, helped with events and most importantly developed
relationships with the children. I wrote a curriculum to be used for the
children's program at the Urban Campus, and am still developing/writing
more curriculum for this purpose.
Mid-Atlantic District Church of the Nazarene, Summit Lake Camp, MD
Camp Counselor, August 2007 - August 2011
For four summers I volunteered as a camp counselor for my churches district
children's camp. It was a week to two week long overnight camp. During
that time I formed bonds with the girls in my cabin, many of whom I saw
year after year and mentored. As a camp counselor I made certain that the
children were safe, accompanied them to their activities, played games with
them, and had Bible studies with them.
Messiah College Agape Center, Grantham, PA
Spirit Force Co-leader, August 2010 - May 2012
Spirit Force was Messiah Colleges Drama Outreach team, which I co-led for
two years. As a co-leader I had both administrative and creative duties.
I organized events, kept records of attendance, and oversaw the teams
budget. I also helped to create skits, plays, and human videos for young
adults, adolescents, and children.
New Cumberland Church of the Nazarene, New Cumberland, PA
Children's Ministry Assistant, January 2010 - May 2011
This was my first internship experience. I worked with the Children's
Pastor of the church in order to learn how she worked with children both in
the children's ministry and as the director of the children's school.
During this time I completed many small administrative tasks such as
organizing supplies and curriculum and retrieving supplies and setting them
up for the teachers. I helped to choose and develop the Vacation Bible
School for the Summer of 2010. I also helped to teach Caravan classes
(which is a scouting program) and simply had fun with the children.
Experience with Special Needs Individuals
Experience Sitting an Autistic Child, 2009 - Present
I have sat with an autistic child, who just turned eight years old, as his
parent needed me since 2009. I play with him, help him learn to use toys
and electronic devices, help him work on communication skills, take him to
the bathroom, and work on feeding.
