Responsible for assisting the Vice President of Facilities & Safety with
ensuring that a safe environment exists in 10 main campus facilities, 10
neighborhood healthcare clinics and long term care health & rehabilitation
facility encompassing Grady Health System, approximately 4 million square
feet. Assists in the development and implementation of safety policies and
procedures that ensure compliance with applicable regulations. Performs
interpretation and application of applicable codes, regulations and
standards (e.g., Joint Commission, NFPA, ADA, DNR, OSHA, EPA, etc).
Conducts safety risk assessments, facility inspections, monitors site
conditions, practices and procedures for compliance with health and safety
requirements. Duties include interpretation of regulations, accident
investigations, identification and evaluation of problems, data collection,
drawing conclusions, developing reports and implementation of corrective
actions.
< Conducts weekly orientation sessions to educate new employees on the
Environment of Care program managed by the health system. Conduct EOC
training for all students, interns, contractors and vendor working
with the health system.
< Member of multidisciplinary Safety Committee which is responsible for
establishing, implementing and monitoring the on-going safety program
encompassing the protection of patients, employees, visitors and
volunteers; and controlling practices involving risk potentials.
Member of EOC Sub-Committees for Fire Prevention, Utilities Management
and Security Management and sub-committee established for the Long
Term Care facility.
< Serves as a direct point of contact to initiate resolution for
facility and safety related issues associated with the Behavioral
Health Program. In the role, initiated proactive risk assessments of
Emergency Department, Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and
Inpatient/Outpatient Behavioral Health Programs. Developed and
implemented mitigation plan for all identified environmental/physical
plant risk factors identified during the proactive assessments.
< Serves in the project management role in all facility water intrusion
response activities to mitigate potential risks associated with
microbial growth. Responsible for the development of remediation
specifications, vendor procurement, and budget management.
< Coordinates all fire safety/prevention activities. Duties include
conducting staff fire response training, facility fire drills and fire
extinguisher training.
< Serves as the Co-Chair of work group established to initiate the Smoke
Free Campus Conversion Activities.
< Serves as a member of the Return to Work - Worker's Compensation
Safety Committee organized to reduce compensation costs incurred from
on the job injuries. Provides guidance and oversight to departmental
managers in the development of light duty transitional jobs.
< Serves as Industrial Hygiene technical advisor, performing initial
assessments of all indoor air quality, lead based paint, asbestos and
microbial related issues and develop corrective action recommendations
to mitigate potential risks.

Responsible for overall project administration and technical aspects of
indoor air quality, asbestos, microbial and lead projects. Experienced in
writing proposals for cost estimates and the development of operations and
maintenance plans, writing remediation specifications and
developing/maintaining client relations. Extensive experience in writing
scopes of work, developing solicitations, and preparing contracts for
design and construction activity related to public housing renovations and
improvements.
Primary duties as the Radiation Safety Officer included implementing the
radiation safety program and ensuring that radiation safety activities were
performed in accordance with the approved procedures and regulatory
requirements established by the State of Georgia Department of Natural
Resources Radioactive Materials Department. Duties included annual
