Duties include utilizing the nursing process to provide an individual plan of care for each patient.

Patient population includes Orthopedic, Spinal Cord Injury, and CVA patients. I am proficient in

using computerized documentation and computerized medication delivery system.

I usually care for six patients each shift I work.

08/2008-06/2010 University Medical Center Brackenridge, Austin TX, Nurse Case Manager

Working as a Nurse Case Manager, my duties included triaging referrals to specialty clinics and

ensuring the appropriate workup had been completed prior to making the referral. I worked

closely with the insurance companies to submit and receive authorizations for diagnostic testing

the Doctors ordered. I collaborated daily with the clinic physicians, social workers, nurse

practitioners and other case managers regarding patient care. I actively participated in providing

educational support for newly hired staff within the department. I actively sought resources for

unfunded patients. Also coordinated patient education as needed, which included Diabetic

equipment usage and medication review/reconciliation.

Surgery staff nurse duties included circulating in the orthopedic surgical suite. Surgeries included

total joint replacements, ligament repairs, and spinal fusions. Maintaining a sterile environment,

safe handling of materials for patient use, ensuring patient safety, and accurate computerized

While working this assignment, I worked with neuro surgical patients. Utilizing the Nursing

Process, I provide care to this population of patients, that included monitoring seizure activity,

pain management, and other comfort measures. Used Emar for documentation of medication

administration. I was also responsible for the LVN/LPN ‘s documentation of the patient

assessment.

Working introduction to ambulatory surgical nursing. While working in this capacity I would

prepare charts for the upcoming scheduled outpatient surgeries. After the patient was identified

for the pending surgery, I would escort the patient to the surgical suite. While there, a second

identification was done. I secured the patient to the surgical bed and positioned for the surgery.

A third identification was done. I learned to circulate in this position. Became familiar with the

different meds used in the surgical suite. And I learned to quickly clean and turn over a room. .

and adults.
