Supervisor Boiler House Environmental Control (Contract Position)
Responsible for operations/maintenance of union personnel (10) during
normal operations and equipment outages. Training for new maintenance
operator (MOP). Coordinated commissioning of $6 million steam system
upgrade. Equipment included Victory boilers both gas fired and waste heat,
softeners, main steam header and deaerator.
Personnel reductions saved over $ 2.5 million.
2006 Reliant Energy, Elrama, Pennsylvania
Contractor Services (Contract position)
Responsible for assisting vendors and craft personnel during outages for
boiler and turbines. Coordinator for phase 1 assessment - $2 million
project-electrical safety issues, catwalks, rolling doors, flashtank,
rotary strainer, and roofing replaced for scrubber switchgear.
2002 - 2004 Orion/Reliant Energy, Elrama, Pennsylvania
Maintenance Supervisor (Contract Position)
Responsible for mechanical maintenance supervision of 20 union employees,
485 mw 4 unit facility, coal fired, maintained coal feeders, mills,
burners, bunkers, pumps, auxiliaries, scrubber, lime slakers, thickener
equipment, screenhouse and water treatment.
2001 Day and Zimmerman NPS, Inc., Lancaster, Pennsylvania
Site Manager (Contract Position)
Responsible for the overhaul of units 1 and 2 - Armstrong Station, AES,
Supervised staff of superintendant 2nd shift, safety engineer,
administrative personnel, technicians and craft up to 78. Duties included
cost controls, equipment procurement and rental, with daily and weekly
reports to client. Repairs included 175 mw Foster Wheeler boiler, 66
superheater dutchmen, shielding 600 tubes, burners, pulverizer coal mills-
wedge bars, ribbons, pinion shaft and bearings. Additional items: coal
handling motor control center completed without loss of availability;
feedwater valve, coal bunker liners and flyash piping. Project valued at
more than $ 2 million
on time and materials basis.
1990 - 1999 Cogentrix of Pennsylvania, Inc., Ringgold, Pennsylvania
Shift Supervisor
Responsible for operations and maintenance of 15 mw. cogeneration facility.
Equipment included 7900hp Wartsila gas diesel generating sets, Dresser
Rand 1.4 mw. steam turbine, Ariel gas compressor (3600 psi), Cleaver Brooks
auxiliary boilers, Delta Stack clarifier (200 gpm), green sand filters,
water softeners, reverse osmosis (75 gpm).
Selected accomplishments:
Reduced well costs by 50% per annum after purchasing proper well
pumps.
Reduced lubrication oil requirements by 2/3's by shortening break-in
periods.
1983-1988 Consolidated Edison of New York, New York, New York
Shift Supervisor
Responsible for directing up to 15 union and contract employees in
operations and routine maintenance. Trained assigned and evaluated
personnel; conducted emergency response drills, and handled labor
grievances. Prepared computerized operating orders, work permits, outage
planning and reliability trends. Equipment included 36 mw, 70 mw, 400 mw
turbines (Allis Chambers, Westinghouse, G.E.); boilers (CE 1300, 2000 psi,
twin furnace, duel fuel, natural gas # 6 oil); gas turbines-Pratt/Whitney
20 mw; water treatments, clarifier, mixed bed, high tension switching and
testing including hipots and bridge readings. Directed maintenance
including fan bearing replacement, boiler tube dutchmen, air compressor,
overhauls, pump overhauls.
Selected accomplishments;
Improved package boiler starts-revised operating procedure and new
equipment.
Supervised new installations and testing procedures.
1977-1982 United States Navy, Various Duty Stations
Performed operation and maintenance on 600, 1200 psi and nuclear propulsion
plants.
Additional duties involved shipyard overhauls, sea trials, and lightoff
exams.

Qualified engineering officer underway-1200 psi plant

Supervised extensive valve program with flame spray preservation
Gained working familiarity of various equipment including: Westinghouse
marine turbine/generators; Worthington air compressors; Ledgerwood

pumps; Metco flame spray; King-Nutronics calibrators 3604, 3605; Leslie air
valves, carbon ribbon packing.
