Objective
To obtain full time engineer position at mechanical design, mechanical testing, materials
characterization, heat treatment, materials processing, casting and forging manufacturing, alloy
selection and failure analysis in automotive manufacture or supplier.
Education
University of Nevada, Reno Reno, Nevada
Master of Science, Materials Science and Engineering GPA 3.5 Aug 2013
Merit-based full time scholarship supported by NSF career award
Harbin Institute of Technology (China) Weihai, China
Bachelor of Science, Materials Science and Engineering GPA: 3.3 July 2011
Third-class People's Scholarship holder (top 10%) 2008-2009
Provincial-level Merit Student (top 10%) 2009-2010
Experience
Mechanical design engineer
Sunny Chef, Co. Reno Nevada Aug. 2013- present
Modified the design of the prototype by merging three uniform pieces into one big
piece, which improved the stability and reliability of the solar oven, at the meantime,
simplified the manufacturing procedure
Improved the efficiency of productivity by making a data based tool (template),
which shorten the cutting procedure, together with the modified design, decreased
labor costs by decreasing the manufacturing time to 2/3
Graduate research assistant Reno Nevada Sept. 2011-Aug. 2013
Advanced Metallic Materials Lab University of Nevada, Reno
Microstructure evolution and mechanical behavior of magnesium and its alloys
experienced severe plastic deformation
Designed the mold for equal channel angular pressing (ECAP), built many of them
with cements and steel tubes, which decreased the costs of the mold by more than
90%, also made the change of experimental parameters much easier
Minimized the effects of difference in thermal expansion coefficient by drying the
mold at 50 , made the experiment implement successfully at different temperature
Processed pure magnesium and AM50 samples with ECAP, applied various heat
treatments during the whole process to improve its plasticity by adjusting the
microstructure, increased the hardness by more than 20%, decreased the average
grain size to around 1um, found out the best set of parameters to refine the
microstructure of pure magnesium
