Directed the 1st Shift Processing Department with responsibility for receiving, warehousing and processing
over 300,000lbs of spiral cut hams per shift. 90% of time spent on processing floor supervising, training and
coaching a diverse and inclusive workforce of 40+ Union employees, Assistant Supervisors and Maintenance
personnel.
Worked closely with Quality Assurance, Food Safety and USDA to produce a quality product in a safe and
sanitary work environment. SAP and KRONOS experience with inbound freight, daily yields and timekeeping.

WELCO MANUFACTURING - North Kansas City, MO - April 1991 to April 2011
Directed day to day Plant Operations for a drywall finishing products manufacturer and distributor of over 60M
lbs. of product, 75SKU's and $8M in annual sales. 90% of time spent on factory floor supervising, training
and coaching a diverse and inclusive workforce of 25+ Union (IUPAT) employees in 8 comprehensive work
groups. Major customer's included Wal-Mart, Lowes, Menards, Westake Hardware and Sutherland Lumber.
• Recommended acquisition and lead implementation of automated filling/conveying systems when Wal-Mart
grew from 1500 to 4500 retail stores. Increased production on one SKU from 800 to 4000 units a shift while
reducing man hours/labor cost 33%.
• Accommodated this 500% increase in production by reorganizing the 45000 sq. ft. facility to eliminate
"bottlenecks, " and maximize the flow of raw materials, packaging and finished goods. Increased flow of
material into/out off production areas by 50%.
1. Decreased stores to LEAN levels creating more floor space.
2. Located essential production materials closer to the production areas.
3. Pre-staged truckload orders saving shipping department time and space.
4. Redefined Shipping Forklift Operator's job description to include assisting Line Driver.
• Combined "short run" products with underutilized machine centers, increasing plant capacity/ attracting
(LOWES) and $1.5M in new business.
• Accountable for the safe loading/unloading of over 3000 Full/LTL truckloads of freight annually. Achieved a
98.9% rating in shipping accuracy and on time delivery, both domestically and internationally.
• Significantly reduced and maintained a low MOD rating/Workman Compensation premiums for lost time
injuries through ergonomic implementations such as rotating work stations for employees performing repetitive
motion task, and installing inexpensive vacuum lifts to reduce back strains.
• Conducted monthly safety meetings, emphasizing safety at home and work.
• Corrected a 20% absenteeism/tardy rate to 0.5% through an aggressive "points" system, and rewarded good
attendance with Quarterly bonuses.
Worked closely with Human Resource on Recruiting, Hiring, Performance Reviews and Promoting/
Disciplining.
Worked closely with Purchasing on Vendor Compliance, Cost Reductions and Introductions of New Raw
Materials/Packaging.
