Teaching Experience:

Course Description: Advanced nursing care of individuals with acute and complex medical and surgical conditions are the focus of this course. Intervention strategies combining the roles of caregiver, teacher, manager, and healthcare coordinator are addressed. A case study approach is used to examine real-life situations.
Spring Arbor University-NUR 321 Trends and Issues in Nursing
Course Description: This course acquaints the practicing nurse with contemporary issues and trends in clinical nursing theory. The course includes an overview of historical, economic, technological, legal, and spiritual influences impacting contemporary nursing care with applications of these influences to the delivery of patient care. A review of nursing informatics is included.
Lorain County Community College-NUR 210 (On site clinical practicum performed at Fisher-Titus Medical Center)
Course Description: This course focuses on the role of provider of nursing care to promote, maintain or restore the optimal health of the client in an acute care facility. Students are taught to provide nursing care through application of nursing process to the adult client with acute and or chronic problems. Content is presented via functional health patterns with focuses on the cardiovascular, hematological, endocrine, renal and respiratory systems. The role of manager of care and member of the profession is introduced as well as ongoing development of nursing skills. This clinical experience assists the student in the development of skills related to client/family education, disease process, home care, communication and clinical reasoning, in a structured practice setting under direct supervision of an experienced health care provider.
Lorain County Community College – NUR 215 (On site clinical practicum performed at Fisher Titus Medical Center).
Course Description: Concepts of Professional Practice and Client Care. This capstone course addresses health promotion, maintenance and restoration with clients in a variety of health care settings. Advanced concepts of nursing are applied as the student transitions to the role of member of the profession. The role of the nurse as manager of care is emphasized. Classroom and clinical experiences focus on the health care delivery system, health care organizations and nursing management at the unit level in planning/evaluating, budgeting, and managing care for groups of clients.
