** Shuttle Transition and Retirement - The project helped prepare the Space
Shuttle Orbiters for museum display, ensured that historical records were
preserved in accordance with federal government policy, and demolished and
excessed legacy firing room equipment, ensuring that government property
accounting and property management systems were accurately updated.
** Shuttle Data Center Lite - Post Space Shuttle retirement, the project
reconfigured the retired data center supporting Space Shuttle data
processing and data store to support further the Kennedy Space Center
twenty-first century spaceport. The project required redesign of the
system servers, SAN, and Ethernet infrastructure.
.
4/1999 - 8/2005 Project Engineer, perform detailed project planning,
direct integration of technical activities throughout the project
lifecycle ensuring project completion within schedule, cost, and
performance.
. Direct and coordinate activities of technicians and operational
personnel, deploying, modifying, and testing Shuttle Ground System
upgrades.
. Managed projects, performed detailed project planning, directed
integration of technical activities throughout the project lifecycle
ensuring project completion within schedule, cost, and performance.
. Identified and initiated purchase of materials and services using
PeopleSoft.
. Plan and conduct operational and readiness tests on prototype system
hardware and equipment.
. Develop design criteria for hardware systems, including testing
methods, quality standards.
. Write technical reports and other documentation for use by engineering
staff, management, and customers.
. Utilized Earned Value Management (EVM), project tracking and work
control tools (e.g. Share Point, Maximo, Documentum, and PeopleSoft).

** Ground Operations Sustainability Project - This multimillion dollar
phased project was a complete systems upgrade for the Space Shuttle's
telemetry ground station at Kennedy Space Center. Project completed on
time, on budget, and with no impact to the Space Shuttle Launch manifest.
Major systems upgraded include; telemetry data processors, database
platform upgrade to Linux Operating System, RAID Storage, Pulse Code
Modulated Data processing and data report software applications, and
Ethernet network infrastructure.
** Launch Processing System Modernization - Project required the deployment
of modern ACI processors combined with updated custom system software to
emulate the timing of the legacy Modcomp computers. Project requirements
additionally required new console enclosures and a full retest of the
custom developed command and control application software.
** Shuttle Data Center Re-platform - The team was required to Replatform
approximately 120 servers from HP-UX to LINUX. Requirements also called for
all new hardware and the retest of approximately 7 million lines of custom
developed data center applications software.
1996- 4/1999 Engineering Manager of System / Sustaining Engineer, Directed
and coordinated activities of technical personnel, fabricating, modifying,
or testing of ground processing station and data transmission systems.
. Formulated conceptual design of systems to meet customer requirements.
. Planned and coordinated activities concerned with investigating and
resolving problem reports of technical problems with telemetry systems
and launch processing system.
. Planned and conducted operational and readiness tests on prototype
system hardware and equipment.
. Evaluated product data and design from inspections and reports for
conformance to engineering
specifications, customer requirements, and quality standards.
. Developed design criteria for systems, including testing methods,
quality standards.
. Generated technical reports and other documentation for use by
engineering staff, management, and customers.
. Reviewed performance reports and documentation from technicians and
field engineers, and inspected malfunctioning or damaged hardware to
determine problem resolution.

** Analog to Digital Recording Technology Upgrade - Project replace forty-
five analog instrumentation tape recording drives with fourteen analog to
digital signal multiplexers and digital recorders eliminating approximately
1M in annual recording media procurement costs, the need to operate a tape
re-certification facility, and resolved a media storage facility over
capacity problem. Recovered 6.5M dollar project cost in 3.5 years through
cost savings achieved by successful project implementation.
** Copper Cable Off-load to Fiber - Multimillion dollar upgrade from an
analog / copper cable transmission system to digital fiber optic
transmission system is support of the Space Shuttle downlink data from all
Space Shuttle processing locations. Fiber optic system deployed without
impact to Space Shuttles operational testing.
