Summary
Highly impelled researcher with expertise in molecular and stem cell biology and cell culturing techniques;
nanoparticle synthesis, characterization and functionalization techniques in addition to good laboratory
practices. Adept at working independently as also in a team.
Experience
Research Fellow at City of Hope
October 2012 - September 2013 (1 year)
1.) Project title: “Magnetically Induced Movement of Cells for Targeted and Effective Immunotherapeutic”
•Carried out the synthesis and characterization of CpG coated iron oxide nanoparticles (IONP) using
Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) and Zeta Potential (ZP).
•Evaluated the uptake of IONP conjugates by enhanced Green Fluorescent Protein (eGFP) expressing
macrophage (BV2) cells.
•Determined the movement and alignment of cells in the presence of external magnetic field using various
in-vitro cell based assays.
1.) Project Title: “Stem Cell-Mediated Targeting of Therapeutic Nanoparticles to the Tumor Site”
•Was responsible for synthesizing and characterizing of anti-cancer Drug loaded PLGA nanoparticles
•Evaluated the activity of the drug i.e. initial loading and percent retention by UV-Vis, Fluorescence and
HPLC.
•Conducted various in vitro cell based assays to substantiate the tumor tropic movement of NSCs
•Currently working on different linkage strategies in order to accomplish NSC-drug loaded nanoparticle
conjugates.
Research Trainee at University of Southern California
July 2012 - July 2012 (1 month)
Attended a comprehensive hands-on training program pertaining embryonic stem cell biology, culturing and
techniques in conjunction with maintenance of pluripotent stem cells.
Graduate Student Researcher at California State University, Channel Islands
February 2012 - March 2012 (2 months)
Optimized the growth conditions of mouse mesenchymal stem Cells (mMSCs) in 3D
fibrin scaffold constructed of varying concentrations of fibrinogen and thrombin
• Employed live/dead assay and fluorescence microscopy to check the cell
proliferation rate of mMSCs

Student Researcher at Advanced Center for Training, Research and Education in Cancer (ACTREC)
March 2010 - March 2010 (1 month)
•Attended a comprehensive training program at CRI (Cancer Research Institute) about various different
aspects of investigations in cancer biology addressing the basic and translational research queries using cells
and human tumors in cultures.
•Learned about the basic techniques and equipments that are used routinely in cancer biology research.
