Project Summaries
Safety Di rector, Pallas Hotel Demolition by Implosion and Abatement- New Orleans, La.
As Safety Director of the abatement and demolition of the 18 floor hotel also known as Claiborne Towers asbestos was found in
t he masonry "skin" of the building. The removal of the three masonry layers from the top of the building down was extremely
challenging for a fall protection standpoint. The building was demolished by Implosion which required complex public protection
and safety and health planning.
As Project Manager the Implosion was challenging as well. The public relations, utility and property protection, traffic
p lanning, evacuation, and site security were very detailed and required constant negotiations with the Mayors Office and the
S tate of Louisiana.
Senior Safety Manaement, Emergency Response, Pilgrim’s Pride Ammonia I ncident, Marshville, NC-August 2001
t h ru December 2011.
This project started as a storm water response to contain the firefighting contaminated liquids, and then grew to an ammonia
and biological remediation. The poultry industry in North Carolina draws intense NCOSHA monitoring. NCOSHA maintained
a l arge presence on site for the first four weeks and continued daily investigations of each contractor throughout the entire
i ncident. Safety inspections started prior to any activity in the planning phase and a review of the entire activity after its
completion. Our staff and technicians were complimented for their professionalism and assistance with the project and
regulatory agencies.
Emergency Response Program/Safety Manager, Deep-water Horizon Oil Spill Florida and Alabama –April 2010
t h ru March 2011.
CCI was a subcontractor for the spill migrating to the Alabama and Florida beaches. As the political climate changed we
moved our response personnel from a crew from North Carolina, of approximately 320 personnel; to a crew of over 1500 from

Florida and Alabama. Recruitment and training were major undertakings, managed on site by the ER Division. A staff of 4
f ull time personnel under the Program Director’s direction accomplished continual Safety monitoring and training. Logistics
and management of such a new large work force was challenging and rewarding.
M anager/Safety Officer, Soil Excavation PCB Site (EPA Superfund Site) – Ward T ransformer, Raleigh, NC, July
2007-Present.
CCI was contracted to remove 100,000 tons of contaminated soil for incineration on site or off site disposal. CCI designed
and implemented a Storm Water and Erosion Control Plan for the entire 20 acre site to prevent contamination and sediment
f rom moving off the site. This plan includes 7 basins and over a mile of swales to prevent storm water from entering the
contaminated excavations. CCI also removed hazardous miscellaneous wastes from the building on site and demolished the
