RE: Application for MS or Ph. D. Statistician at CORRONA
Dear Search Committee,
This letter is to express my interest in the position of Statistician at
Consortium of Rheumatology Researchers of North America (CORRONA). Basing
on my knowledge of biostatistics, epidemiology and work experience for
longitudinal cohort data, I am confident that I would be a great addition
to CORRONA.
. I have a Ph.D. degree in Genetic Epidemiology in Erasmus Medical Center,
Rotterdam, the Netherlands, and two Master degrees in Statistics and
Epidemiology in Europe, and a Bachelor degree of Medicine in China.
. I am familiar with epidemiological study design, I made analytic plan
for research consortia. I have more than eight years work experience
with longitudinal cohorts, including Rotterdam population cohorts,
Framingham Osteoporosis cohorts and professional health cohorts. My work
involves epidemiological studies of osteoarthritis.
. During my work in Hebrew Seniorlife Center of Harvard Medical School, I
have great opportunities to manage three research projects. I made
analytic plan for research consortia, arrange & prepare documents and
minutes for discussion of monthly tele-conference calls. I also carried
out data collection, cleaning and data management with Excel and Access
for qualitative/quantitative large-scale follow-up data for age-related
disorders.
. I wrote code for statistical analysis with several statistical programs,
e.g., SAS, SPSS, METAL, R and Epi Info. I also interpreted observing
results.
. I have 50 publications, including 18 first-author papers, book and book
chapter. I am familiar with programs such as Word, Endnote and
PowerPoint to present my work, and presented my work in several
scientific conferences.
. I am willing to learn new knowledge and technique. I work independently,
and I am also a sweet team player (as my boss in Harvard evaluated me).
. I am US permanent resident, and have right to work here and take
international business trip.
. I have high speed internet in home and I have valid driver's license.
I am excited about the Statistician position. According to my education and
work experience in statistics and epidemiology, I am ready to make a
valuable contribution to CORRONA. Please do not hesitate to contact me if
you have any questions. I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss my
qualifications in person and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
Yue Fang
