ACADEMIC PROJECTS

1) Engineering Project : Automatic industrial pollution monitoring and warning system

Language : C

Platform : Windows 7/XP/8/10 using 8051 microcontroller Description

Problem statement: Real-time detection and monitoring of the emission of toxic substances ( Gas, Precipitation etc) by the industries is the primary focus of the pollution control board. Non-availability of the real-time solution and monitoring by inspection on sampling basis is not serving the need for the pollution control board. Proposed Solution/System: Threshold of the toxic substances in the industrial output is published by the pollution control board. Toxic Gas sensors, placed at the suitable outlet locations, senses the percentage of the toxic substances in the industrial output by varying the output voltage. This output voltage is fed to the pre-programmed microcontroller which drives the warning signal to the subscribed users via GSM. The warning signal may comprise of the type of toxic substance, its percentage and its quantity.

The COTS sensors were used in this project . The sensors are built using the elements, sensitive to the respective toxic gases. The sensors are the transducers that translate the quantity and proportionality of the toxic gases into the readable varying voltage output. The voltage input is fed to the ADC (Analog to Digital Converter). ADC provides the corresponding digital values to the micro-controller through the data bus. These digital values are stored in the micro-controller’s cache memory.

Micro-controller was programmed in C to drive the warning signals to the subscribers via GSM. The program fetches the stored digital values of the toxic gases along with its type and position. These information is then flown through the loop of the code set against the threshold limit as published by the pollution control board. The information that comes out of the loop drives the output devices such as buzzer. Simultaneously this information is sent to the subscribers via GSM 2) Diploma Project : VGA application on real time reconfigurable device. Language : C

Platform : Windows 7/XP/8/10 using 8051 microcontroller Description

The scope of the project was to design, develop and implementation of an efficient hardware architecture for VGA monitor controllers based on FPGA technology. The design is compatible with PLB bus and had a high potential to be used in Xilinx FPGA- based systems. The ability to provide multiple display resolutions (up to WXGA 1280 800) and a customizable internal FIFO make the proposed architecture suitable for several FPGA devices. SEMINAR AND PRESENTATION

• Paper presentation at inter college competition on topic “ Optical fiber communication”

• Attended workshop on ‘MSP-430’ : understood the architecture, instruction sets and working principle. Wrote commands using instruction sets to interface the given hardware. INTERNSHIP

• Company name : Rail Wheel Factory Yelahanka

• Description : I got the opportunity to get the information regarding the production of wheels and axels and their assembling. During factory visits they provided the information about the implementation of various control systems and electronic instruments in the plant. Undergone the training in the process of calibrating the electronic instruments. PERSONAL QUALITIES
