Position: Research Assistant & Linkage Officer

Project: HIV/MDRT-TB

Duration: September (2014- 2018)

Duties: Complete all required data collection and medical record abstraction within the assigned hospital which will include basic patient interviews. Abstract patient’s labs from National Laboratory, and update them to patient files.

Maintain accurate and timely data collection and operations by following policies and procedures, and reporting needed changes. Working closely with ECDOH district office, and attend monthly reviews organized by the Province.

Responds to quality assurance reports from Lead RA within 10 days of receipt

Communicate via email weekly and Skype as required with study team this may include any member of the research team.

Recruit and enrol eligible participants into the research study in their first language (English, Zulu, Xhosa or Afrikaans).

Join regular research team meetings through email to review relevant research methods, discuss problems and concerns and discuss the direction of the study.

Attends all necessary trainings, which are being offered by the DoH. Prepare weekly and monthly activity reports.

Patient tracing to treatment care within a certain period of time, working with Buffalo City Metro DoH TB Co-Odinator and outreach team, and attending monthly MDR-TB review meetings, sharing information with other stake holders within the district.

Do outreach in taxi ranks, prisons and to families who are affected by HIV/TB in various communities around Buffalo City Metro, as a way of giving hope to those who are affected by poverty, and with the help of the care-givers from different organizations, and sponsors from people within our city.
