The Governor’s School offers a distinguished science curriculum to the region’s gifted high school students. The Governor’s School provides a cohesive, innovative science and mathematics program which embraces quality programming standards for gifted students as recommended by the Virginia Department of Education and the National Association for Gifted Children. I am teaching Computer Science to High School Juniors at the Governor’s School specifically because I wanted to get young people excited about Computer Science. I start the course using the Greenfoot Technology (Greenfoot is a two-dimensional graphical Java development for creating interactive games and simulations) so the students start out having fun learning to program in Java. As the students become comfortable with the concepts of computer programming, I move the class into programming in the C and C++.

KidsChairs, Inc. manufactures Children’s Furniture and sells retail throughout North American via the Internet. In August 2005, I purchased the assets of Kids Chairs from MNJGroup, Inc. I then incorporated these assets under the corporate name KidsChairs, Inc. (www.kidschairs.com). I relocated the company from Fredericksburg, Virginia to Virginia Beach after the Christmas Holidays. MNJGroup was selling Children’s Furniture that was focused on the low-end of the market with marginal product quality. I changed the focus of the product line to a more high-end market and significantly increase the product quality. During the next year I expanded the product line from two successful products to ten successful products. I hired a staff, brought the inventory under control, purchased a manufacturing facility, and I established marketing campaigns (pay-per-click) with over 1500 keywords with Google, Yahoo, and MSN. The company is now positioned for a significant expansion as the revenues dictates.

Vericept develops, markets, and sells a network monitoring product designed to help with compliance and regulator issues such as Sarbanes-Oxley, GLBA, HIPAA, and CA SB 1386. The product also monitors for typical form network abuse such as downloading music and videos, gambling, adult content, etc. Achievements: Moved the company from a failing Hardware Device Company to Software Company, Rebuilt the Engineering Organization with a strong College Recruiting Program, Established solid software release procedures and bug tracking, Implemented a salary structure, Aligned salaries to fair market value, and Created a fun and productive environment for Software Development.

Downsized the organization in December 2000 to an organizational size of 96 people (55 in Engineering and 41 in IT) with a budget of $9.9 million. Downsized the organization again in April 2001 to an organizational size of 65 people (49 in Engineering and 16 in IT) with a budget of $5.8 million.
