Initiated a Blood Products Committee to review the use of blood used in the facility to help reduce the inappropriate use of blood. This has resulted in a usage reduction of 120 units down to 100 units. This is a 20% decrease in blood products which reduced cost to the facility and improved safety to the patient. Implemented a special staffing program for the Emergency Department which reduced pre-analytic time from an average of 40 minutes, time of order to time of collect, to 20 minutes.
