2009- November 2018 VSP Vision Care, Columbus, Ohio Provides products and services to employers, eye-care professionals, and over 85 million members through a group of leading companies providing comprehensive eye-care coverage, frames, and technologically advanced lab services and practice software solutions.

SENIOR HUMAN RESOURCES BUSINESS PARTNER

Supported VSP's Eastern Operation Center (EOC), which included the Customer Care Division, Sales & Service and the Ohio Optical Lab, consisting of 600 employees. The optical lab is a 3-shift, 24 x 7 manufacturing facility with 300 employees. 2000-3000 pairs of eyeglasses

● Instituted a peer-to-peer employee recognition program to reinforce organizational culture. Broken into four categories, the program has tiered levels of rewards and recognition. ● Reduced health care costs and absenteeism, while increasing employee productivity, by creating a comprehensive wellness program. Initiatives included opening an on-site wellness and fitness center, offering on-site fitness classes, wellness incentives, discounts to local fitness centers, health assessment and flu shots on-site, and a smoking cessation program.

● With instituting a robust safety awareness and training program, reduced frequency and severity of workplace injuries up to 18% annually.

● Implemented a talent acquisition strategy, which resulted in a 30% increase in employment applications received in combination with better candidate qualifications and experience. Also, instituted an employee referral bonus program with monetary awards.

● Completed the Human Resources Strategic Plan for VSP’s Ohio offices annually.

● With implementation of enhanced core Human Resources services and employee programs, along with recognition as an ‘Employer of Choice’, turnover decreased on average 20% annually.

● Created a complete talent acquisition strategy to support the organization’s successful expansion initiatives throughout North America; saved the company more than $600,000 in third-party placement fees while increasing staff by 25%.

● Developed sound hiring processes and procedures to acquire talent according to consistently applied leadership and technical competencies; increased retention by 50%.

● Coached leadership on employee relations, effective communication, counseling skills, dealing with employee performance, and employee development planning.

● Saved the organization over $11 million through strategic restructuring initiatives.

• Restructured the applicant database to streamline the hiring process, hire the best qualified candidates in the correct positions, and remain consistent with established competencies.
