EXPERIENCE:

Graduate Researcher ( 2014 – 2017)

Michigan Technological University

1400 Townsend Dr, Houghton, MI 49931

Advisor: Dr. Wood 906-***-****) Permission to contact.

I developed a new method of geomorphological surface mapping using different digital elevation models (DEMs) collected from stereo pairs of photogrammetry and how those images compare to Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) using GIS, pixel size and image statistics. Found an ancient sea shore where the Salton Sea was once located ~ 500 - 10,000 years ago (published). Analyzed seismic data & metadata sets to deliver timely results to designed hazard maps and proposed mitigation techniques for the scientists at Pacaya volcano in Guatemala using ArcMAP and the FEMA-MH plugin to increase resilience. While working in Tabora, Tanzania I mapped anthropogenic structures, natural formations and depositional processes using GPS, ArcMap and openstreetmap to document the roads and buildings of villages.

Taught science for the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training in Tabora, Tanzania Africa: To improve students’ and teachers’ achievement in Math, Science, and English proficiency and comprehension. Interacted within the community and surrounding areas to build cross-cultural relationships in the rural and harsh environment where natural resources are limited. Advocated women empowerment and violence against women through the school and villages, by having an after-school club and sport activities. Successfully executed a re-vegetation project of trees around the school. Maintained and monitored accurate records of secondary projects that I implemented while following Peace Corps regulations, guidelines, and policies. Taught Malaria, AID/HIV prevention and life skills as part of my humanitarian relief for a Swedish organization.
