I advanced myself at this institution from a patient care tech on the progressive care unit(PCU) to Licensed Practical Nurse/2005 (LPN) to Registered Nurse/2010 (RN). I assumed a staff nurse position in the Intensive Care Unit and was promoted to charge nurse in 2012. From 2015-2018 I served in a Nursing Administration role as Nursing Supervisor. This position was fast-paced, rapidly changing based on the activity on the individualized units, I was held accountable for a volume of tasks simultaneously. The primary responsibility, geared toward ensuring a productive workflow was met ensuring the needs of patients were assembled along with meeting financial expectations by following the implemented staffing grids. This was attained by effective utilization of core staff and contract labor, understanding the association of staffing as it related to patient needs, working with agency to effectively fill staffing needs, ensuring and validating agency employee credentials, and working closely with Administration to staff efficiently and effectively along with meeting budgeted allocations for the nursing units. Lastly, I was expected to precisely follow the contracted union agreement in place at the facility.
