06/2014 to 01/2015 Position: Staff Nurse/ Pediatric Unit
Responsibilities: Present 10 bed pediatric unit caring for children ages 0-18 years of age. Staff nurse and charge nurse caring for ill pediatric patients with a broad spectrum of disease processes. Manage patients with IV’s, administer antibiotics, pain medicine as needed, and manage patients on oxygen. Utilize strong assessment skills to determine the necessary patient care. Currently manage patients on cardiac monitors and continuous pulse oximetry monitors. Manage patients admitted for dehydration, respiratory problems, kidney infections, and always monitoring for any deterioration. Care for 2-5 patients per shift.

06/2012 to 01/2017 Position: Staff Nurse/ Birthplace Center
Responsibilities: Present 10 bed Labor and Delivery unit caring for pregnant women either for antepartum, intrapartum, or postpartum. Obtain history, complete physical assessment, assess mother and baby with continuous fetal heart monitoring. Assess mother for any changes in cervix to rule out labor. Monitor mother for any possible complications such as hypertension, hemorrhage, infection, and also monitor baby for complications such as decelerations in heart rate, umbilical cord prolapse, and possible trauma after birth, and administer medications as needed. Provide anticipatory guidance and teaching for mother and family while in labor and after birth. Care for mother’s as a circulating nurse in Operating Room for cesarean section. Perform all tasks with a patient-centered focus while seeking opportunities for improvements. Care for 2-4 patients per shift.

Responsibilities: Present 24 bed neonatal unit caring for newborn babies 0-7 days old. Presently care for newborns by assessing heart rate, respirations, color, signs of infection, heart murmurs, genetic defects, blood glucose, and assess body temperature. Presently manage infants on IV’s, administer medications as needed, and monitor infants on oxygen. Provide newborn teaching to mother and educate on breast and bottle feeding, along with helping with breastfeeding. Care for 4-5 newborn patients per shift.

Responsibilities: Present 24 bed adult obstetrics and gynecology unit. Care for mother after birth and administer medications as needed. Monitor and assess mother for any signs of infection, and care for mothers on PCA pumps. Manage mothers after cesarean sections with opioid analgesia medication therapy. Assess for any complications with mother after birth such as postpartum hemorrhage. Responsible for 4-6 patients per shift.

included neonatal emergencies, emergency medication administration,
resuscitation and care for neonate after emergency.
01/2014 Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring Course Program in Midland, TX
by AWHONN. Content included assessment of mother, interpretation
of strips with well-oxygenated fetus or possible acidosis in fetus.
Also included was interventions for fetus with early decelerations,
variable decelerations, or late decelerations in heart rate. Synthesis
and evaluation of interventions was also taught.
