Project: Vermont Health Connect HIX – OBAMACARE (It’s one of the TOP 5 initiatives of Optum)

As part of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, also known as ‘OBAMACARE”, the VT HIX is the Vermont Health Insurance Exchange Program to provide affordable health insurance coverage for the individual and families below the Federal Poverty Level (FPL). Some of the important modules involved in HIX were Eligibility and Enrollments, Renewals, COC, Notices, Billing & Payments.

Responsibilities

Project Description: Worker’s Compensation Claims to iVOS: (WC claims to iVOS)

This is a Data Migration Project where Policies & Claim information are moved between Legacy systems (WINS) and a New Claim system called iVOS. IVOS is a web-based claim management application that provides the user with host of benefits and is used to manage claims for multiple lines of insurance like Worker's compensation and Auto.

An inbound and outbound interfaces are tested to validate that data are successfully transferred between iVOS and both internal and external interfacing system in order to validate that claim processing has been successfully integrated into existing iVOS capabilities (eg: Vendor sync). In addition, data conversion process is used to develop a repeatable process to extract, validate and load WC Insured data into the iVOS application for multiple trial purposes with final conversion

This is an online tool that allows the “Member” to understand and manage their “Health Care Cost” by viewing the Provider (Physicians) and Facility (Hospitals / Labs) cost for the services they expect to receive. The Members Health Benefit Information is integrated so it can calculate and compare- treatment specific cost differences by Provider, Location and Facility Type.

Health Care Cost Estimator pulls together all the information that a member needs to explore Care Option and make a choice based on “Cost” & Quality” with a better understanding and planning for potential Out-Of-Pocket, Co-Pay, Deductibles -all at one place & at one time. ie. From the First Doctors appointment to the Last Follow-up Visit

SBC provides information about the coverage calculations involving different types of networks for different services (Medical, Pharmacy) for the specified plan.

This tool has 2 modules (a) Admin (b) Business User.

a)Admin: Admin Module has all different Plan data and it’s controlled by different Federal Government Rules.

b)Business User: (Insurance company or the Payer)

Business user creates the SBC’s based on different Plan data that is available through admin. The business user (Payer) is capable of changing different values for different plans with in the ranges for different variables depending on Business rules while creating the SBC’s. These created SBC’s will be sent to the “Employer Groups and “Individuals” based on the Business segment.
