Research Associate, Plant Chemist, Research and Development Manager (1995 – 2008)
As plant chemist I was responsible for training mixers, color matchers and troubleshooting off specs batches. Made significant improvement to the manufacturing processes and product quality. While a research associate acted as a liaison between the quality control laboratory, production and the research and development laboratory. Assisted in new product development making lab samples, testing and documenting results and advising a path forward. Supervised the making of new product pilot batches moving from research and development into production. In the research and development laboratory manager function while reporting to the technical director, assisted in the development of new products, made recommendations for product quality, cost and performance improvement and supervised two research associates.
Production Manager (1991 -1995)
Responsible for all phases of paint manufacturing of both latex and solvent paint divisions. These would include raw material inventory, production scheduling, color matching, quality control and paint filling and packaging. Successfully converted 80% of Insl-X solvent based paint manufacturing process from a pebble mill to a cowls mixing process, which allowed us to significantly increase the batch sizes and hence the entire paint manufacturing process. Supervised staff of 28 employees.
